Dont forget the fact they have the weakest gearbox ever developed, with only 4 cogs in it and the crank is piss weak due to only have 3 bearings.

If you want a cheap track toy then buy a valver corsa or similar, ie something with an engine that:
a) makes good power
b) stays in one piece
c) is attached to a gearbox that isnt crap

How the fuck is 1100quid a cheap track car?

Id fucking love one if I could find one for 200quid or so to modify the engine, but FUCK would i even pay half what that ones up for.

Thing is they so rare now they either scrapped or quite pricey.

Its not really an engine worth modifying on the cheap particuarly IMHO, due mainly to the gearbox.

Are you selling the rose tinted specs as part of the deal or does the new owner have to supply his own?

Best thing the seller can do with that is buy a Mini to put the engine in and scrap the Metro!

Even if you used it as a Track Car you couldnt use it in the wet as it would rust through on the 3rd lap.

Thats just silly, best thing that anyone could do with it (other than not buy it) is to drive it around as a fun and quirky example of why leyland were in such terrible difficulties, its far too expensive to buy as a donor car.

lol why you think I said the straights, blindly obvious have no chance round the bends

I was surprised a 20 year old austin could still hit about 130mph, even with a women behind the wheel on my first track experience - and nothing fell off it! lol

Friend of mine put a metro turbo engine into his mini a few years ago, not sure what his last r/r output was, over 200bhp which is quite impressive - believe he used to take it to Norfolk RS meets and scare cossie owners

You couldn't ruin of of the few remaining good condition MG Metro turbos by tracking it!

Ooo I'm sure its out by a mile or two I didn't think to ask the others who didn't get past what their speedos were reading at the time. It was a long straight (2.5 miles) and I'm sure the wind was behind me

Starting to understand correct lines and how cars handle on track was more important an experience at the time than how quick the car could get round it

Dunno what to use on the next session IF the monty sells

130+? Even I'm not that deluded! lol for 350 notes to have a go at track sessions I don't really care what speed it actually reached on the main straight, not fucking TOTB is it!

It wasn't an actual 'track' was RAF Marham laid out 'track' for a charity track session as said. Don't think the airforce agree to hire out for top speed events. Was a better surface than the 'track' they laid out at Bruntingthorpe for the French Car Show

Perhaps they could get someone to set up some official timing gear, but thats not the point of the days - we all know track days/sessions are meant for 'racing' or timing

It was fun whatever speed it actually hit
