Ive closed the computer down and re-booted it & all the other Zip Discs works , just not this one. Its very important that someone could help me, cause if ive lost this ive lost all the design work of customers such as..........

JC Motorsport
Adrenaline
Pro Alloy
Raceline/Compomotive
Jam Sport
Performance Ford

I need to know whats happened as ive got to sticker up PF Nicks car for National Day and logo's i already have, have gone

Sounds like its the drive itself thats died Paul, the data on the disc will more than likely be fine - Data recovery programs will be able to recover the data if you use a working drive.

Do other discs work or are they all showing blank aswell?

Hmmm..... if all the other disks work then it's unlikely to be the drive, but try another drive anyway if you can, just to see if it's any better. I have had CD drives, for instance, where the drive reads most things fine but some it won't. Use another drive on the same disc and it's perfect. Hopefully this could work for you.

Can the drive see that the disk is there and that there's something on it? If so, might be possible to copy the disk as a whole onto your HD, but this really does depend on how well it can read it.

Not sure what else to suggest though Paul, as I don't know a great deal about zip disks specifically. Maybe Jim Galbally will know something more......

Good luck with it mate.

Paul, sometimes Iomega can recover data if you send the disk back to them. Give them a ring.

Oh dear Paul
And after you came all the way to mine to use and abuse my bean tin

Have asked Dingo about it:
Linsay says:
can you recover files from a wiped zip
Linsay says:
disc
ding says:
depends
ding says:
if its had a full format its hard
ding says:
if a quick format or delete then its possible
ding says:
quick format and delete removes file table information with out removing the file
ding says:
the file would still be there unless the space has been over written
ding says:
when files are removed from the file table they are marked so they can be over written and don't appear to be on the disc
ding says:
if disc is old or used for backup then it could be fucked if its not been used in ages
ding says:
cause they age
ding says:
badly too
ding says:
can recover items though if its not been used, but you will need to use a recovery program
ding says:
i can try and do it, depends how quick he needs the information i guess
ding says:
its usually about Ł100 to recover a zip disc
ding says:
if you take it to a professional recovery place

im of the same opinion as everyone else, the disk is knackered

i'd reccomend you try and find a professional data recovery outfit, it'#s likely that they will be able to recover the data, the technology they use is very very cool, and can get back just about anything.

be warned, it won't be cheap tho, most charge up to 1k for a hard drive, so i image you'd be looking at the 100-500 mark for a zip disk

If you still need to recover your files I use Ontrack EasyRecovery Professional at work and it's great program it's saved a few peoples bums in the past.

I'd forward you the program but unfortunatly im not allowed due to the licence but I know you can find it on the torrent sites.

Only one problem is it won't run on windows 2003 server.

Good Luck
