Turns out that the 4X4 was borrowed from another county or something, wasn't owned by Essex police.......................

Surely if plod had been obeying the 'Only a fool breaks the 2 second rule' then the speed of the vehicles would not have been such a contributing factor. Looks like a case of driving too close to me!

They will get off with it tho

That's right down the road from me, heard a copper was injured and needed assistance.

And by the way, it was a secondary school 100 yards up the road, and the kids were off on their holidays

The point i'm trying to make is that the IAM is just a BASIC form of training which quite clearly states that you drive to the conditions of the road i.e leaving an appropriate distance. Regardless of how quick they want or needed to get their is erelivent as saftey is the number 1 priority and even more so with high speed drivers who have undergone many hours training.

Don't get me wrong this is only my opinion based on what I've seen so far from the pics but if there were two cossies in that front garden would your veiws be different ???

If it was anyone in any car they would imo school very nr (does'nt make any differnce if there off or not imo ) If you look @ it , it could have been worse as there out on the street off down the town ect or be walking to there m8s down that road.
But the Police should know Better imo like you say they have to do alot of hours to prove there up to it so therefore take in ALL THE POSSABLE HAZZARDS ! so there have time to advoid thing like this happening

Nobody knows the details of what happened. For all we know the Mondeo may have been joining the road and got t-boned by the 4x4.

I'm not saying they are in the right or wrong.

Just that accidents do happen and sometimes they are almost totally unavoidable. And that generally the police are good people trying hard to help others, which in turn means they are always having balance risks.

I don't like police at the best of times, but when I see things like this I tend to try and go againts the general jumping on the bandwagon type comment.

In all fairness they were driving to assist or help someone, both drivers were both very well trained in driving fast. They possibly drive fast 5+ times a day, for over 10-15 minutes, with other road users in there way, completely oblivious or just plain ignorant to move out the way. I see it like this, you drive your car hard and fast enough everyday you'll have a crash when you lose concentration. I don't really know why they use a 4x4 to carry out high speed chases, its hardly in the same handling/power league as the mondeo..

Oh well. Upmost respect for traffic police i'm afraid.

Ditto.... generally speaking, they are widely recognised as the most highly trained drivers on Britains roads...

Hey fellas, I'm blushing.

At the moment I think we have something like a 15-20% pass rate for an advanced car course, unlike most police courses you cant just turn up and pass.

I know first hand what you lot go through to pass. I've got nothing but total respect for police advanced drivers. Going out on a flat out commentated drive is something else

still fucking funny though better luck next time..
I have on a couple of occasions made coppers pull over for driving like tossers, once for having the front fogs on,( must drive a saxo off duty , chav ) when it wasn't foggy, copper went fucking tits , but he knew I was right , and I pulled over and stopped when an Omega was tailgating me, he pulled in behind and jumped out of his car, came up and asked why I had stopped, I got out, opened my boot and said "well you are obviously trying to get into my boot as you are driving so close to me, I thought I would save you the trouble and just show you" he got angry as well, started to have a go about me being a smart arse, I told him "only a fool breaks the two second rule" , and asked for his badge number as I wasn't happy with his standard of driving Still he didn't apologize either , but was funny writing his number down then driving off

I think people get pissed off with plod because of the total double standards they live by

PF's Kangaroo Court at it's best

Accidents between 2 police vehicles do happen, sometimes it's inevitable! It's not funny either when you get a phonecall in the middle of the night saying your daughter has been involved in an RTA and is in ***** hospital. That's what I got when my daughter was involved in a 2 police car crash. She was fairly lucky and had no serious injuries, sadly her partner who was driving didnt get off so lucky, his injuries were bad enough for him to have to leave the force. The driver of the other police car, whose fault it was, had the book thrown at him and was demoted from being a traffic cop.

All this was because of chasing an under-age joyrider

sorry to hear that mate, and i'm sure it's all a bit tounge in cheek the grief that the coppers are getting

it's just nice to see them come a cropper once in a while, and there were no reported serious injuries so i think a bit of piss taking is on the cards

the papers have reported it as both vehicles were on their way to attend a scene and they crashed into one another

the bloke they were going to sort was holding osme officers at bay with a shovel apparently

I do find it mildly amusing that a police car took out one of thier own vehicles. Statistically thats quite rare!!!

Far more likely to T-bone some twat pulling out of a side junction. Not that the big blue lights and sirens are a giveaway or anything?? Or those things called give way lines.........
