Default Vauxhall Vectra question please...no tossers please.

..so that rules out 90% of this BB

So to the 10%

ABS light on an auto 1998 1.8LS Vectra.....been sitting a while..what is there to check and what is likely wrong?

The back plates behind the disks sometimes get bent and rub causing the light to go on.

if it's anything like my Audi, it's cause the battery voltage is low - may go out if the battery is charged/replaced

a sensor could of gonw down due to water sitting and corroding the sensor

yeah most likely cause (if all was well before the lay up) would be the sensors. May be worth removing them and giving them a clean up.

As said most likely a sensor. when ive not used the cossie for a while sometimes the ABS lamp stays on for five or six miles. so give it a run could be all thats needed. as for taking them out to clean. they nearly always break when removeing them.

A simple code read will tell you.
