Puppy Dilemma **UPDATED WITH PICS**
My dog has yesterday fathered some puppies, he is a staff, she is a staff x bulldog, both gorgeous dogs! problem is this, only 2 puppies were born, one male one female, both brilliant white, female has massive patch over eye an one on back, and the male has 2 patches on back.
Problem is, the bloke who's bitch it is, wants the female pup, the male puppy is going to be big & strong (born much larger than the female) but i've heard that you can't have 2 male staffies in one house because they'll fight!
Anyone any experience with this? any advice?

Bollocks.
If you bring the pup up with its father and not separated the father will adapt easier to having the pup around and they will become 'mates'
If you separated the dogs to bring the pup back in say 12 month time, your dog may feel its territory is being invaded by an outsider and could kick off.
Just a question, how friendly is your dog with other dogs?

Big G is bang on. If you put the puppy together with the adult dog from the off, he will consider him his pack leader. If you dont and wait until later then there could be territory issues. Of course that doesnt mean that the pupll take over as top dog at some point (as he prob will) but itll be fine from then.
Again as g says you have to take the persona of your current dog into account. If he can be a bit aggressive they shouldnt be left on their own for a while.
Have to get in quick though as their socialisation period only runs til 20th week max, so best to get the dogs together, so long as everyone is vaccinated.
I knew those canine psych courses would come in handy for summat lol

out and about though he's fine with other dogs unless they start on him then he will defend himself. but never starts himself.

Most dogs when rucking though won't actually cause each other damage. It's usually more of an act. Best to leave them to it in the majority so they can sort things out naturally without us interferring (like thinking our old beloved dog should be in charge over the young uns - rarely the case)
I think they'll be fine if you get them together early.
Now post some pics!

When we had our bitch, my sister used to bring hers round, they were mates but used to also have a mini ruck either in play or just to show who was boss (ours as my sisters is scared of her own bark) but there was never any harm done.

Don't know the character of your dog, but we've got two male Collies and they get along just fine
The sable one is 4 and the tricolour is 1,5 and never had any problems

My family have 2 males who live together, a black lab and a chihuahua cross.. guess which one is boss
My brother and sister have a female Beagle and a female Boxer respectively, who have been brought up together but don't live together and they get on great
2 dogs are usually good company for one another

One way of ensuring that the dog you have now remains as Alpha dog, is to do everything for him first..... feed him first, put his lead on first, make a fuss of him first when you get home etc etc. That way the pup will realise his status is lower in the pack hierarchy, but always make sure that you are No. 1 Alpha male.
Hopefully by establishing a pack heirarchy, it should work out successfully.

True Lynne, but I reckon it's better that you're the alpha, not them.
I have tried explaining this to my folks.. and they're three spaniels, but they're having none of it.

At my dad's there used to be a male Collie cross, god bless him, a male terrier, female terrier and also at various times a rottie bitch and a half sausage dog thing called Bertrum
My dad's wife's criminal son (right stupid cunt ) actually stole the rottie from somewhere. I'd never normally condone such a thing but this poor dog had had the shit beaten out of it. It's hard to see such a normally strong and confident animal reduced to something that literally shits itself when you raise your hand to your head because as soon as it sees a hand go up it thinks its going to be on the recieving end of a beating.

I think you are totally right as a hole........................But not with staffords
If you are to study the breed they are the utimate canine athelete and are very set in there ways they where bred for one purpose and getting on with other dogs is a big NO NO
I have been in the stafford seen all my life and i know people that have tried all of what you have said im not saying by any means that it wont work but i think better to be safe than sorry and tread very carefully

It depends dog to dog from my experience. The 2 males will get on fine for a couple years until the younger ones want to fill his boots a bit and go for dominance then its downhill from there. As said there might just be one fight where the older one will put him in his place and it'l go back to normal but some fight constantly.
No way of knowing just yet

I have already said on my very first reply that I would be very dubious about having 2 male staffs, but Nick_RSIFEZ seems set on having the dog pup, so that was just really some advice for him.

I had 2 males Staffs which both had the same dad. They were 6 months apart, after about 6 months together my oldest wasn't happy about his younger brother being about and he was much much bigger than him and it was getting to the point that we thought that they would end up getting messy.... we now only have the eldest and a friend has the other and both are 100% happy apart.
The wife now wants a sausage dog buy I recon our Staffy will just think it'll be dinner.....lol

Good stuff they look like healthy dogs.
If you plan on getting two males I'd surpervise them at all times when together (not so much when he's a pup) and keep them split up at night and when your going out.
I've heard too many bad story's of 2 males or 2 females being left together and the owner coming home to a dead or severley injured dog. On the other hand alot of people keep two dogs of the same sex together and have no problems but I personally wouldn't take the risk.
