i tried it out last night on a car i know isnt hpi clear.
the result?
the car is hpi clear!! WOOOHOOO!!!! so if anyone wants to buy my cossie, check it using text check and it'll come back clear. dont bother with the more expensive hpi check..
that'll £5700 to you guys!!!

still only a rough guide Mike
I did this on my S2 before I bought it, and it came back clear, but still paid the £30 for the full one, came in a nice pack etc, good to keep with the history of the car

it may be rough Stu, but you'd expect it to be able to tell you if a car had been written off, otherwise whats the point?

Do HPi indemnify the cars up to a certain value on those text checks?
If they do, sell the car to a mate/family member for a token amount of £1, write them out a receipt for £5k then get the person that "bought" the car to sue them for the balance!
