Default Granada Cosworth

A mate of mine has just got one of these on a M plate. Looks pretty clean and i quite like it.

Just wondering what peoples views were on these cars? I know they're not in the same league as the Sierra and Escort.

So, are they any good or just a wannabe?

The engines are good (200 bhp as standard) but the Granada cossie weighs over 1500 kg so they are heavy. Really comfy and all the gismos but they were never intended to me hacked round a race track so they obviously don't handle like a fiesta/escort etc.

They have the same brakes all round as the escort cossie. Good cars in my opinion.

I agree. For a cheap luxury fully loaded bus you can't go far wrong.

How hard is it to put a manual box in these? Nobody ever seems to do that, they just put the whole lot into a Sierra!

I used to have a 2.0 Auto Granada scorpio. One of the best luxury cars I ever had - loved it.

it would have been nice with a bit more power but it was never gonna be a track weapon.

the whole point of the auto box is that the ratios are perfect for the granada
the engine was designed to go with an auto so you wil never find one with the manual box unless it's been retro fitted (wait for the chorus of people who will say "but ford fitted mine with this that and the other" etc) so thats why they are nice and efficeint to drive in a straight line
round corners though, don't bother, you can throw them about, but they never feel as quick as the sierra, all that wieght makes them very cumbersome but good for boot brake corner and boot it again moments

epic space inside (4 aults in the rear no problem) and all the mod cons you could want
pootle about knowing that with a prod of the right foot into the depths of the carpet will see off most bits of tinfoil they call hot hatches nowadays (mainly because they don't expect a barge to leave them for dust )

need to change the oil reuglar though and, if you can live without it, you can strip it down to the bare minumun and get a big wieght saving

for between £300 and £800 it's the best bit of budget motoring you can get
and when they break, you strpip them for their bits and make your money back

a manual converted one on ebay went for £800 i think no rust on back arches which is incredible really good nik for cheap money my grandad has had 2 grannys and they have both been complete and utter shite.the 24v's electrics were fooked and the 2.9' 12v's engine was shagged after 72,000!!the a/c didnt work and they were prone for overheating,i hate the slow auto sheds, the later frog scorpio is better though,it does actually get into fourth gear unlike the grannys.and there was a rare sports pack only avalible on the ghia 24v's which came with:1/2 leather rouse style genuine recaro buckets,1/2 walnut-real steering wheel and upgraded cd playerwith better speakers,my dad had 2 ,a white one and a silver one which was very rare as ive only seen 5 in my life but seen the seats in 2 other cars, one pair are in a saph cossie on here and the others are in a red 24v granny cossie powered p100 pick up which was for sale on eburgler 1 week ago.oh and also i had a 2.8 rare manual mk2 in white and it was the best granada out of all.
