Honda RC30

Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong
Look at the seat unit, the aftermarket rear wheel, the Ohlins rear shock, the size of the rear downpipes, the smashed fairing (composite, not plastic).
Take it from someone who has serviced hundreds of NC30s (and a couple of RC30s). That is an RC30

Well according to ALL the motorcycle forums you're in the minority in thinking it is an RC30 . According to the police, they have it down as an RC45 .
They are aftermaket wheels, aftermarket exhaust, aftermarket suspension and crucially an aftermarket seat hump - if it was a genuine RC30 seat hump, it would have a screw in the very corner where it meets the frame - you can see clearly what I mean from the genuine one . You can clearly see that this has a non-genuine race seat (fitted to an NC30 ). So stick that in your pipes .
Who in their right mind would do this to an RC30, if you were to modify one, you would use all the Honda Racing parts or risk devaluing it . If that WAS an RC30, then I'm a space man.

(Don't be confused by the small headlights, that's a Jap spec RC30, not an NC30)
The seat unit is held on by three screws each side.
I've never seen an RC30 modded using HRC parts
I've also never seen an aftermarket NC30 single seat unit with the two recesses on the top of the seat unit.
I think the more relevant question is who would spend that much money modifying an NC30.
It's far more likely that that's an RC30 with paintjob, rear wheel, Ohlins shock and exhaust (the mods pretty much every RC30 owner will do bar the paint)
When's your next launch?

Actually now i actually take the pictures seriously (as i was just enjoying the 007 to rainbird )
It is an NC30..and GurnE i am shocked how you cant tell
Look on the seat unit where it meets the frame..note the cut out...only the NC30 has that...

The corner of the seat hump in front of the seat where it meats the frame has a screw to attach it on a GENUINE seat hump, but on this aftermarket pattern item it does not . It's an NC30 that someone has TRIED to make look like an RC30 . Given also that he had JUST passed his test, how the fuck was he going to insure a modded RC30 - it would be hard enough on an ickle NC30 for someone who had just passed their test ?

Whether the bike is an RC or NC is would still use those three mounting bolts.
That seat has obviously just ripped away from it's mounting.
Throwing it into a car at 100mph+ will do that
#68
Yep Phil,
WRONG, the NC is the only one that has a second cut out below the rear seat.
However, I am pointing out the screw in FRONT of the cut-out in the picture Gurn-e has posted is NOT there on the crashed bike (due to it being a pattern part ).
And in ripping away from the fairing mount it has also miraculously sealed up the hole as well .

Wrong
That brings back memories
(not just of Phil being a but also of the VFR400 i used to have about a decade ago when i was thin enough for it to be worth riding a 400)
Awesome bikes, really enjoyed mine

Mute point anyway as regardless of whether it's an NC or RC they would both have the same three mounting points each side

Both bikes have the same mounting points on the seat units!!!
So even if there is no hole (which there is, you just can't make it out ), that still proves nothing.........lol
Look:
NC30
RC30
Notice how both bikes have two bolts securing the seat unit to the frame?

I'm afraid we will have to agree to disagree .
1. No-one would deface an RC30 in such away.
2. No-one who had just passed their test would be riding an RC30.
3. However, NC30s are REGULARLY bought by beginners.
4. You're .
5. So is anyone else who believes that is an RC30 (especially Cam ) .

1. I don't see how race paint, system, ohlins shock, aftermarket wheels etc is defacing especially as there are a lot of ex-race bike RC30's out there on the road that have been 'tidied up' in such a manner by their owners
2. Where are you getting this 'just passed their test' nonsense from?
Internet conjecture imo. Stick to the facts (The picture of the RC30 )
3. See 1
4. That was just a phase. You said you wouldn't say anything.
5. No argument there

No, not conjecture, it was shown at the Swedish Motorcycle Fair (the display was jointly produced by the Swedish Police and Road Safety department)
All three involved (two in car and rider) were killed instantly. This graphic demonstration was placed at the Stockholm Motorcycle Fair by the Swedish Police and Road Safety Department. The sign above the display also noted that the rider had only recently obtained his license.
