Ever since i got into Cossies this TOTB shit was the same...infact any competition...NO GOOD

We got Rod Tarry who mouths off about how good his car is but makes excuses as to why it cant enter or beat the Japs

Kev Sharp who could do somne damage but would never enter

Reyland..NEVER

The real fact is RICH peaople dont fuck about with shonky Fords They go Jap where your efforts are atleast relaiable and COMPETITIVE

Sorry but the YB is all but finished as a competition car

PLEASE READ THIS..I LOVE COSSIES AND ONLY MEAN IN A COMPETITIVE WAY,THEY AINT ANYTHING.

Is it the engine though Bosch man?
or the bits connected to??

YBs are still capeable of producing respectable figures.

but the package they are sat in is a variation on a 20 odd year old design!

The engines are fine to 600bhp..after that not good enuff IMO...and 600bhp aint enuff to cause any aggro to jap cars.People spout gareth llyold and his escos...it wernt the car it was the driver..IMO.

People tend to judge a Cosworths ability not taking into account how much the driver has input....put it this way the Stig could lap faster in an Austin Allegro than i could in my Saff..ANYWHERE

phil

well set up cossies can still hold their own even better with the rights bits on them and a decent driver

2 words to you immy.... gareth lloyd he won the handling first time out @ totb1
and pissed on everything in his escort at the gt battle last yr he even turned the boost down because of the lack of compertion

so you see the jap cars never had it all their own way

Marco cossies for ever

Gareth still has the Escort, and although he is DEFINITELY a super-skilled driver, the fact that he has spent a HUGE amount of time and effort setting his car up makes all the difference. For example, the transmission is Ł20ks worth with full Grp A magnesium suspension components with all bump steer completely removed, and despite running it at around 500bhp most of the time (or less ), it still does the business and runs rings around LOTS if higher powered cars, just because it is such an exceptionally good all round package.

He was supposed to be driving a Scooby at this years TOTB, but it doesn't look as though this will happen at the moment, and I think next year might see his arm twisted into entering TOTB for the full season IF it is just tin-tops that are allowed to enter.....

I know I keep saying "next year" , but again all the best Cossies just haven't been ready in time, and I'm looking forward to the day that they will be - 2020?

My car is good, its the Fastest Cossie ever & has set accleration figures to 200mph unmatched by any other road going Cossie. BUT its a road car & not suitable for events like Totb. Sure Mark could make it suitable, but major changes would have to be made. Mine has been optimised for Topspeed & im sure would get a Top 4 place in that discipline, in fact we will be out to prove that shortly after the event, consentrating on that means the quarter mile sufferes badly & it aint no track car with its present set-up. Ive entered twice & reached the drag final once & was one of the favourites last year until the drive-shaft broke. WHAT YOU DONE PHIL, YOU SAY YOUR CAR IS UNREAL FAST BUT ITS ACTUALLY A SLOW OLD SHED COMPARED TO MINE, SO SHUT THE F**K UP UNTIL YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING.
I have a budget & I prefer to spend it on setting new Cosworth records not wasteing a weekend at totb. Mark also dont want me to enter as he has Kieths & Kevs car to look after & oerhaps win their events.

Me too, I love ALL fast cars and can appreciate anything cool (I love the stripped out purple Corsa that looks like a 17year old bird's first car, yet does 12s quarters )

I just wish Rod would give TOTB one last shot before hanging up his spurs, as I think with the right set up, it could do VERY well - good enough to surprise people and make them sit up and take notice of the Cossies that's for sure! Even if he only won the top speed event, that would be great . Just imagine if Rod won the top speed, Gareth the handling and someone like Martin / Scotty finished in the top five over the quarter - would certainly put the Cossies on the map again .

Lee is only remotely competitive in one of the events, mine is around 30mph quicker down the mile & can run with him down the quarter so what, that aint competative.
Have you seen Kieths car , then you will see the problems of the word road legal. None of the Top cars will drive to the event thats for sure.

oh you mean the converted diesel corsa with the perspex windows! yeah funny that one!i hate the fact its quicker over the quarter than mine and its a corsa
yeah rods car would do well if set up right and would be great if martin,s and the others could do well but i think we will have to wait a while wish i had the money to put into a car to do this myself but that wont happen!
but also in defense the cossie has had some good years and we cant complain.ive noticed the scooby drivers in my area are keeping quiet lately now their cars are getting old too, there have been alot of blow-ups!
just as i thought they would given the time.not so bloody reliable now are they!

im not saying you will wipe the floor with everything and yes i have seen what sort of cars are there and the specs, and i do agree the big tuners and rich boys do spunk loads on them and do only ever trailer them but surely theres a few like you who can fly the flag for ford like andy nicholls does for rover?but i also appriciate the fact its down to the owner and its their pride and joy and money they are risking. maybe they should change the rules and make every cars arrive under their own power.

Cheeky bugger...

i only didnt get round the handling circuit last year cos i had a problem with a boost hose keep blowing off while trying to get a top speed run in... and seeing as the evo's had caused a 10 mile tailback for the handling i chose to keep trying the top speed

Unfortunatly the event is getting too comercialised now... the likes of keiths car... although its an amazingly fast car its only down to money so doesnt make it that amazing anymore....

Imagine if rods engine was put into steve scotts escort... now that would be a very competative car for all 3 types of event and although there has been a fair few quid thrown at the engine and the escort it still would be a fraction of the cost thats gone into keiths car??

Thats what this event should be about...

true the event has got a bit max power-ish,its not about the normal people any more its about big money companies that produce huge cars and the cost gets lost in the business funds! thats why i respect people like you who turn up in their own everyday cars and do good times.
rods cars is a cracking car and was a shame it done the shaft last year. last year took a few of the cossies out due to breaking stuff, hope this year is more lucky.
i do admit it will be difficult to take the title away from the skylines though even with the likes of steve and martins cars.

i didnt mean the show mate i meant max p started out life doing every day peoples cars and now they feature mega money tuners and porsches etc, which i dont mind every now and then but not all the time.i dont read em any more due to this.theres a lot of quick low budget motors about that are within reach of buyimg and people copying ideas tha dont get seen, and i dont mean neons and kits.i may have typed that bad and not made it clear sorry.

Not be funny or owt Cossies are still great cars but not even Reylands new car is gonna worry Keith Cowie or Andy F this year at TOTB.

Sorry but not alot out there does a 1/4 mile in 9.3seconds AND goes on to 210.4 mph.

As for the handleing circuit well jason hulbert in the evo and Duncan Cowper are gonna be an hard act to follow.

True..... these are all big players at this event, but if it wasn't for others trying then the event would not be as good as it is.

Don't think I am going just for a jolly..... I want to do well on the handling circuit and I know my car has every chance of doing well in the 4WD class on the handling..... the only issue is the driver! Which is a fairly big issue I know, but you have to try if you have the means to.

Nothing is a foregone conclusion and I know of a number of other cars that are entering that will make the handling even more competitive this year than ever before.

Personally I can't wait, as whatever happens it will be a good day. Even having the chance to compete at this level is cool.

hmmm

i'll be watching Hull KR V St Helens in huddersfield on the 30th of July

totb is all about who has the biggest wallet and the best backing by a tuner.

gone are the days of old (the first 2) where you had every day joe's able to compete.

we were going to run this year, but after taking sensbile advice, decided against it - who wants shonky old fords to win this event? not many people do!! (i would love to see it happen, but it wont)

No offence meant Lee as you know ive always been behind you & your car.
Perhaps if I was your age the will to compete would still be there but it aint, Im not even going to watch although some of my crew are, but they are 20 not 60.
Will run the car at 2 events in September & then take a long look at my options.
