Doesn't mean I'm ignorant. And yes, I HAVE driven an E46.
The look doesn't do much for me either, and I wasn't ready to be very excited either until I went out with Mr GRS - to be fair his is far from standard but it certainly does make you I have to admit I was surprised.

I also have individuality which driving a new Mini does not give you, same as the E46 M3 - both like clitorises !!!
Far few S1's about than Mini's and M3's...........that makes me individual and as for burnouts etc ? Errr, nah............they are chavvy wankers

I'm surprised how many people wouldn't buy Car X or Car Y because of it's perceived image. If I liked a particular car I would buy it - wouldn't bother me at all what person XYZ thought of it. People at my work think a Cosworth is a "right boy racer car" and my old Astra GTE 16v was a "Maccy D carpark special" ...........but I enjoyed driving them ....that's what counts for me personally.

I just like to be a bit individual and different mate - why be the same as everyone else ? I'm not a sheep........ I like to be individual and 'fad' cars ie. new Mini, Audi TT, Peugeot 206 et al no matter how good just don't cut the mustard for me...................

The MINI Cooper S with JCW GP Kit will be a two-seater in exclusive colours, and extra safety and interior options will come as standard.
The reduction in weight over the standard MINI Cooper S has been achieved by modifications to the chassis and engineering tweaks. The longitudinal control arms on the rear axle are now made of aluminium, and the omission of the sound-deadening material and the rear seats have made further weight reductions.
Modifications to the intercooler as well as engine tuning measures have increased power output of the supercharged 1.6-litre engine on a standard MINI Cooper S JCW by 8bhp. In order that such power and the high maximum torque of 245 Nm are transferred securely to the road, this exclusive special edition features a Limited Slip Differential and Dynamic Stability Control as standard.
High-performance brakes by John Cooper Works featuring red-lacquered brake calipers on the front wheels ensure optimum stopping power. In addition, the GP Kit includes specially-designed weight-reduced 18-inch alloy wheels.
The special edition will only be available in grey-blue metallic combined with a Pure Silver roof and Chili Red wing mirrors. The air scoop on the bonnet and in the front apron also come in Pure Silver.
Interior standard equipment includes Recaro sports seats, single CD, air-conditioning and a multi-function steering wheel.
A new aerodynamics package - front and rear aprons, a wing-shaped rear spoiler, underbody panelling and even lower side sills have all been added. This has resulted in a distinctly reduced drag coefficient and enhanced downforce on the front and rear axles.

The biggest problem with the new mini is its weight , they are really heavy because of all the new safety requirements. And yes a standard mini cooper S is a disappointment, but once they've been tweaked, like mine, then they are a great little cars to drive

That GP mini is the equliviant to the Focus RS in its range. Limited edition, better road holding, LSD and more power.
I reckon you got a cracking car there Alex.
I was lucky enough to have a little demo blast in grahams Cooper-S when it was around 200bhp and it was very impressive for a little car, great fun on those twisty roads and almost air bourne over that bridge i seem to remember graham

With a turbo replacing a supercharger in the S, the tuning potential will only be limited by concerns of reliability. Todays Works makes 210bhp, but in future that should rise to as much as 230bhp. BMW technicians and Cooper Garages are already working on the project.
Not much of a secret is it

It may well be a nice car, but Mini owners seem to be mindless sheep.
I once went on a Mini forum over here (Germany) to try to promote/sell Grahams larger intercoolers - nobody wanted to believe it was any good, preferring a chargecooler instead which was promoted with dyno figures.
I tried to explian that a chargecooler would always show good results on a dyno run, but on the road in sweltering heat, it would soon lose its edge, plus all the weight gain...I didn't go so far as to say that the 'proven' figures/temps were achieved with a bucket of ice in the water resevoir, which is quite probably the case, as they would never have believed it.
I never bothered to go back to their forum, and never sold a single GRS Mini intercooler. So I hope you achieve great figres Graham to show those nobbers what someone with your skills can achieve. I hope they all sell their chargecoolers on ebay and rush to you for some serious kit.
I now frequently enjoy slaughtering Minis on the Nordschleife.
So, IMHO, don't buy the Mini. I doubt it will be worth anything at all in years to come, standard or not, no matter how few they built or how many stars it got in a magazine.

Mr S1 hates anything that's not a Ford.
Don't worry about him, no one else seems to. Just another blinkered fool!
Ok, so in your messed up, drug fuelled world "the majority of the public" equates to about 10 people on a deluded, chav-ridden Ford messageboard?!
Deary me, the irony!!

Clearly touched a nerve there!!! You're in complete denial if you think what I have said is not echo'ed by the majority of the public - I mean you're buying it, so you've just strengthened the stereo-type buyer
