I think I can do it i just keep fucking up, I never fuck up when I am behing teh ghost, only when i'm ahead, and normally on teh second corner of the last lap or I go too wide at the last hairpin

I did pull out a 12.72 FIRST lap last night! but then fucked up

 

what a bugger!the only time i have a prob is when the ghost is directly over me.i cant tell where the front edge of my kart is and i twat the pipes its a real shame dave got banned as well cos he could have made it interesting.as for your ghost fuck ups,thats the common thing most people can drive fine when behind cos they can see what they have to beat and its a goal but when in front you are under pressure of not knowing where they are and go off line wondering about it.

Me and my brother have dug the old SNES out...

He is quite the master at MArio Kart... But he can't get under 1.05

He's got the day off so he's taking all day to try n beat it. lol

 

if only there was a way to all meet up and and have a good mario kart session!

I had one go this morning and did a 1:04.67, not bad with no ghost i thought

 

a very old games console. all the games are built in (pong etc). controllers just used to pots you twisted round. no joysticks here. this may (?) have even been pre Atari. Maybe not the very first console, but still, not far behind. Still have the receipt in the box too.

theres a few more here. thought they might be worth a bit more given they are "antique" games consoles. Best hang on to it for a few more years.

 

you really can see the how much of a difference is it when you have the ghost with you, like if you take a corner slightly wide you see the ghost edge ahead, or if you take a corner better you gain, as said its the pressure of trying to stay in front.

I sometimes get put off when the ghost is slightly behind and your character keeps looking to one side

Left the ghost on for ages and just kept chipping away at the time. You can always see where to improve with the ghost there.

It wasn't a sudden jump, it was probably hundreds of different high scores each very slightly faster than the last.

 

Any of you lot played it on the Gamecube?
A VERY worthy update well worth a look!



Also worth looking into Mario Kart DS which has multiplayer over wifi

 

I never got round to buying a Gamecube. What style was it done in? same as SNES or full 3d like on Mario Kart 64- which I didn't think was as playable as the origional.

ps you cant get fast times cutting across the gravel, its slower than going round the track as far as i know (havent tried)

i remember when i was little i did actually do that BUT, it was only a GP whenever i had a turbo boost mushroom, id boost straight across the dirt, the little cheat i was back then
