my day at combe saturday..... with some video...
another brill day .. well organised
only really started to wake up really after 2 days of trying to get the car ready
replaced oil seals in front diff, fitted a clutch and found i needed a flywheel new brake pads checked a few other things out .. ..
thanks to..
mike rainbird for his normal very swift delivery service on the front pads
twinkle toed ryan for the flywheel
darren at CCR for the use of his ramp and garage aswell as telling me i will never make a real mechanic
nice to meet a few people
took martoon out for a session even kept it off the grass chasing the abc car
car was really running well at one stage .. everything was working together ..
ADRENALIN'S frame connectors .. well what a huge difference they have made i can recomend these to ANYONE who does track days i normally run the leda's at 12 on the back and 10 on the front .. had to turn em down to 8 and 6 so that the car stopped skipping made a huge difference .. dunno if the 3 1/2 year old rear tyres helped tho or the fact the fronts were on their 6th track day
car looks like it is having a few problems though.. had it running ready to go out on a session and it stalled .. looked like it flooded itself and killed a plug or 2 might be from where we did all the work under the engine .. no doubt disturbed a sensor or something
need a bit more power .. found i was in the wrong gear for a couple of corners but thats the only way i could get a good exit speed before the .63 housing finally supplied some boost might have to go smaller so i have the boost on tap
the black fiesta behind me what alot of fun we had one of the best bits of track fun i have had .. was very impressed by it .. anyone know who he was ?? had a few chats with him but forgot to ask who he was .. shame he had his engine problem tho but looks like it been fixed
only complaint was there was only one trader selling ford plugs and he had run out
many thanks to swindon and bristol group for yet another really cracking day out .. looking forward to next year

Eagle - Your car was flying - I was in my Pug 205 racing my bro in his 205 and you just sailed past us no probs - your car looked SOOO composed in the corners - was very impressed. Big improvement on last year
You and 2 other Saph cossies, plus the Datsun 240Z were the only 3 cars that overtook me in 120 miles on track, which shows two things to me - the Pug was FAR better at Combe than I expected (despite only having 150bhp on essentially a very fast circuit) - and your car handles VERY well.
Basky You went past me easily down the straight IIRC, but me thinks you need those frame connector thingys - by the time we got back to Camp corner my Pug was almost catching you up - it ran rings round a lot of Cossies round all those tighter chicanes and Tower.
Your slides round Camp corner in the morning (the odd few mins I watched) were very impressive though Think you were racing the Alfa and Doug at the time...
I WILL be adding frame connectors to my Saph shopping list
Lambchops Totally missed you matey In amongst ragging the hell out of the car, and socialising with loads of peeps off here, I never saw you or your car. Next time though - I owe you some laps
Was a cracking day out, very happy I went despite the demise of my Cossie the night before the event.

Glad you're getting the use out of it - the session I watched with you, Basky and the Alfa, looked like the Cossie's were moving very nicely!
Don't worry about looking like a cock next time - just say hi! I met so many new peeps and it's what these events are all about
Met Micky off here for the first time, after a couple of National Days racing him with my Cossie. Great to put a face to a name really.
Just wish my Cossie had made it
