Can anyone remember air gap is it 3 thou please>

7-12 thou is the gap when fitting a phase sensor. Set it at about 10 thou and all will be ok.

what faults will occur if gap is to large or small on phase sensor?

It will just run rough as the phase sensor acts as a cam trigger type of device.
