Default engine builders........ molycote

do any engine builders use it these days???

we used to use it many years ago to help bed in new main & big end shells, rather than use mineral oil a smear of molycote was used instead.

Bedding in shells that can't be clever. The moly is there to prevent any metal on metal contact on "dry" build and/or first fire.
The mineral oil is to aid bedding the rings in the bore.

i didn't mean just run it on molycote, smear of molycote on the bearing surface & 1000 miles on mineral oil, the rings don't get moly on them.
