Change your fuel tank - sounds like the accumulator is not filling properly (tank dented or internal blockage) causing air to be drawn into pump and onto the fuel rail. Probably OK in first, because the car has been sitting at idle, so accumulator has time to fill (but more slowly than it should). Had exactly the same problem on my saff with the original Ford tank when 1/4 full or less.

how often do they need changing.. ? its only started doing this since fitting braided fuel lines and turning the fuel filter round to join to the pump with screw fittings..

i have been thinking maybe the tank.. although its brand new last year if i take the feed hose off the tank i would have expected the whole tank to empty but only a trickle comes out then stops? or should it do this..?
it is one of these pattern tanks not a ford one.. if i keep the car full of fuel it runs fine..
