selling cossies at the moment??
Been looking through the trader and quite a few other places, there seems to be an awful lot of cars for sale for weeks on end, and people resorting to breaking them as they don't seem to be selling. Has the market finally hit rock bottom do you recon?

dunno, i am looking for a cossie, and just spent the last 2mths helping my bruv in law look for a cossie and viewed loads, alot of the cossies we seen were either badly or incorrectly described (saying FSH when they did not have FSH) or saying the serivce book was fully stamed when there were bits missing, or saying arches were good when they were hanging off etc, and it goes on, the first genuine cossie my bruv viewed he bought, a lot is to do with the seller putting you at ease, and the one i looked at last sat, the seller was so shifty and was obviously lying that it puts you right off, fingers crossed tho as I am looking at a stunner tomorrow

so many bad ones about, cossies are old cars so people dont want to just throw money at any old one
peolple know that it makes sense to take ur time and search about for a good one so thats probs why there are cars for sale for a long time
IMO
im probably talking crap thou

As said, hard to find a good one, but also scoobies and evo's are in the same price bracket bu tnewer and the market is getting more shared out.
Few years back it was the cossie who was the clear daddy and the dream car, meaning dodgy buggers with cash to burn went out and bought one to hammer round, i think with the cossy becoming a classic the market is shrinking. The dodgy owners will go out and by the newer evo's etc.
On the upside, with any luck the people that do buy them now will keep them nice, or get them nice if miss treated.
Still, a escosy will turn heads over an evo or scoobie any day of the week.

so will a rs500/3 door!!!! and kick their arse
cossie sales have slowed right down this year,4x4 ones seem to be suffering more than 2wd ones.sad fact is they do break for decent money-hence so many being broke.

When i got my one back in October me and my mate. Drove over 800 miles looking at crap ones and 3 months on the net . Till i got mine . Know he getting one so we are going to do it all over again. But what i have seen out there i know it going to take a lot longer this time . As most have been raged. What they tell you about the car is crap and so on. plus i think more are going Jap. So they can play at being Vin diesel

I am also looking for a sapph at the moment, but i have a fairly low budget of Ł5k, all the good ones are way over that, and quite rightly so.
I don't mind having to do a little work, but people will tell you anything to get you interested.

I am looking round at the minute for the misses, she wants a small nippy little car, bit sporty.
Have seen around 10 cars in the last week or so, all wrecks, badly repaired, dodgy histories, dodgy sellers/traders (claiming it's their misses car, but have only owned it a week and the log book is in the previous owners name).

They are out there, but when your after a 15 year old car, you have to expect certain things to be a bit iffy, otherwise you'll spend Ł10k on a saff and to be fair I saw a Ł10k saff at Automotive Unlimited and although it was a lovely car it soooooo wasn't worth the money in comparison to what I paid for mine. Your only paying for bits of paper, not actually a better car.
Good luck with the hunting, one will turn up

Problem is most the cars which are supposed to be good aint-
Its taken me since August last year to find the car I wanted... and I am afraid you have to pay the money if you want a good one.
With Cossies being cheaper to insure now adays they aint going anywhere... just people becoming more cute when buyin

On this note. When buying a cossy 17 years young, what things should you 'accept as default'
Obvioulsy not arches hanging off or air filters zip tied to the turbo, but like you say, you can't expect to get into the car and smell new car smell.
Know what i mean?

Like i said you have to do your home work. You can to do it alone. For my mate one we are looking all over. There is a possible trip to Ireland to find one and we live in Essex. I think i got lucky with my one. But saying that i have to do a lot of work on her. There still lots to do. so it not the matter getting the car. It how much you spend when you get it home. When things go they go. The parts are most of the time not cheap . But when it running right she will pay you back. there is nothing like it the raw power of the cosworth all cosworths. If you can live it i am

And you would probably need a set of Hens teeth which were speckled with GOLD DUST to find a "Good one" for that money.
All in my opinion of course.
When I got my 4x4 saph last May- I looked at 12 cars before buying the one I did- and I had 6k to spend- so I'd hate to think how many cars you'd have to look at to find a "GOOD ONE" for Ł3500 or less.

i was moving rs's for really good money this time last year and at the minute i just carnt shift them i think the country in general is in a bit of a no spend mood because its not just rs's that have been afected all the market has, and what makes it even worse no body wants to spend money while the footys on
Theres some excellant motors coming up at the moment for the right money but just dont seem to be selling hopefully the market will pick up when dam foot ball is over.

i own a good honest 4x4 (one of the first ones made) and it was magazine featured february this year in fast ford after a long rebuild.
i wanted to sell earlier this year but had nothing but time wasters wanting to come and tyre kick it. seems a hard market to sell in at the moment and i have decided to keep it and try concours with it this year.
seems to be loads of bottom end money rubbish and top end minters but nothing in between.

IMO unless you are paying top top money, don't expect any car to be perfect - the newest cossies are what - 10 years old now.... - and after all, they are built by ford.....
IMO your mad if you go and buy one, and expect it to be perfect- it won't be! - may only be minor things, but your not buying one from a showroom afterall!
Editied as I can't spell for shite!
