the problem i see here, there was way too much hype in the run up to this World Cup, "best chance we've ever had" blah blah
and now we ain't setting the world on fire with free flowing football everyone is saying how crap we are
the fact is, every team bar Sweden we've played have done so with 10 men behind the ball, not easy to break down for anyone!!
Lampard has been getting into the spaces, and has come VERY close in a few occassions, it's only a matter of time before he scores imo, you can't leave a player of that caliber out, just like Beckham. All it takes is a moment of genuis to win a game

fuck no's why he took walcott!!!!
no expierence wot so ever, went into the tournament wiv one fully fit, semi expierenced striker - crouch!!!
shd have taken defoe imo, has good pace and i think would link up well with rooney!!!
as for lampard, his a class act!!!
look at wot his dun for chelsea in the last few seasons, and at least his creatin the chances!!!
once he gets one, u wont b able to stop him

at the end of the day, we can deliberate (argue?) as much as we like with our superior knowledge of tactical awareness and player scouting prowess but we already know what team Sven will pick
Beckham will play wide right, Lampard and Gerrard will both play though the middle, Rooney will be the lone striker and either Carrick or Hargreaves in the holding role depending on availability in the right back slot
in my opinion, i think we can turn it on Sunday and get the result we need against the Portugese and go to play France/Brazil, but then i've always been an optimist
and if Lampard scores i'll let the doubters know

becks is useless, he brings nothing to the team for me he cant go past anyone hes like a cart horse, he aint got the legs he used to have, his set pieces are average ,when he takes a corner it usually hits the first defender
i used to think becks was great but hes past it now , fair enough theres the 2 goals but whos to say we wouldnt have created loads more chances or goals with someone like lennon on the pitch ?

Cos he plays for Chelsea mate & so is automatically brilliant every game & bit like John Terry. Terry's two cock-ups every game have to be overlooked cos he must be good as he plays for Chelsea.
Ive watched the games so far in Canada & they dont have such Bias, Blinkered views. They have noticed how dodgy Terry is .
They will have to improve to reach the semi's im afraid.
Still im spoilt I remember 1966, now that did have some great players .

Seriously.... we can knock individual players all day long, but in reality not one player has played to their true ability and have under-performed. Whether this is down to Sven's 'tactics' or our players aren't as good as we think they are, I don't think we'll ever know.
On paper, a team can have the best players in the world, but they have to gel together as a team and also have a top class manager, unfortunately England doesn't have a top class manager and won't have in McLaren either IMO.

all this talk of lampards got more international goals than gerrard. the reason is gerrard sits and allows lampard to go forward, if stevie wasnt sat doing the defensive midfield role and was allowed to get forward, trust me he would out score lampard, stevie got 22 goals for liverpool last season, which i believe is more than lampard got for chelsea, plus stevie does the other jobs, like defend, pass, cross, and still has time to get 22 goals. imo lampard is not on the same planet as gerrard, stevie can do everything lampard can do and everything he cant. im not trying to put frank lampard down, he is one of the best in business at what he does, score goals from midfield, but that is all he does.

the long and short of it is the whole team can't play together they may be brilliant for their clubs but when it comes to the international stage they can't perform as a solid unit

Whats weird here is this :
Last week before I went away to sea you were all 100% together and behind the team etc. And all slagging the socts.
Now, after 2 more games you're all taking them apart saying thier crap. Which is what I said last week!!
Thus proving, that no-one listens to me, even when I'm right

i agree with Franco, 5 man midfield with Lennon wide right is the way forward!
i'd play Beckham in the playmaker role he did so well at for Real 2 seasons ago
