What's ILD data?

 

The ILD standard defines a way to uniquely recognize the
columns of a log file. This is accomplished by appending

When your inside Excel with the data loaded.. just press F11 ...

thats really all it takes...

 

I want all the columns headed correctly with the data type name etc.

OK, what is it you are actually trying to do? Just paste data into Excel, name the columns correctly and make it look pretty?

Or am I totally misunderstanding you and you actually need some data translating into an Excel format?

Hmm well I know how to use Excel fairly well but in all honesty I've never heard of ILD data mate. I know how to put stuff in columns, give it headers, user pretty colours, get rid of the grid lines etc though

 

You can use the wizard to import most data formats into excel, its pretty versatile

Stu is this a one off excersise or do you need to have a working sheet you can point at a file and populate?

 

That would be nice if possible Matt. The data format is always output in teh type of file i gave you, so if i could point excel at that and display correctly it would be real nice.

Matt is extremely clever, results so far are very impressive!

 

very easy to do with a bit of vba code to open a file and convert it. can even be incorporated into the excel menu so it looks like a standard feature

 

Regardless of how easy others find it, i am impressed and appreciative of his help.

 

Mircosoft Excel and Word both confuse the hell out of me

 

I dont mind anyone else having a bash if they want....i'm not brilliant with code but i should be able to muddle through

sorry, i wasn't trying to belittle either matt or yourself stu

was just trying to say that excel and vba are very powerful and easy to use once you get into it. there's way more to them than initially meets the eye

for example, would you believe that this is excel and hooks up to my techedge wb lambda controller and 4 channel thermocouple reader to give a real time graphical display?

 

If you need any parsing or regular expression help (vba/vbs, whatever), give me a shout

 

Also sorry, i must admit i did take it that way and should really know better from you mate.

That display looks wicked pal!!

 

I can usually get where I'm trying to go with Excel, but haven't used it in a long while. Would need to know more about the data and what was required of it before attempting something like that.
