For anyone who's been bitten by a horse fly...
last sunday (11th june) when the weather was nice - i was sat in the garden with my shorts on. When i had a shower later on i noticed what looked like a large mossi bite on my leg, thought nothing of it, and squezed it and give it a good wash. It went a bit warm and red for a day or so then was ok and had virtually all but gone.. untill..
yesterday when i had a work experience student shadowing me for the day, my leg kept twitching and feeling stiff around my ankle..
by the tim i got home i couldnt press the clutch on the cosi as my ackle wouldnt flex at all, pulled my trouser leg up to find this fookin mess..!!
spend an hour in the docs waiting room, and they've put me on a super strong dose of antibiotics, double doses of ibroprofen, paraceatamol and piriton for a week and she says it will take at least 2 days before it starts getting better...
never knew a little fooker like that could go so bad so quick, in about 3 hours it went from ok to that!!!

My missus is a care worker and she cares for a guy who got bitten by a mosquito in Australia.
He was a computer technician. Now he's wheel chair bound, has to breathe with a ventilator, and has to have everything done for him (including going to the toilet etc.)
Makes u realise how lucky we are........

About 3 years ago I was at national day in shorts and T shirt, By lunchtime after kneeling and siting on the grass. My knee had swollen and I couldn't walk very well. I went to the medical boys who told me to go straight to casualty.
I wasn't a local so had no idea where to go and my car was on a stand.
So I wait to the end of day by which time I can't drive and my passenger has to drive 3hr trip home.
Its now late and I feel shit so go to bed following morning I go to casualty and they take samples from the fluid in my knee joint and send me home with anti-Biotics. Tues I am in bed all day and the sickness and diohrea has started. My wife comes home at 5pm takes one look at my leg and rings an Ambulance.
It is now swollen to the top of my thigh and to my ankel Red hot and all I want to do is sleep.
The ambulance takes me to casulty where I am put on Intrevienus anti-biotics and kept in over night and discharge in the morning with instructions to go to my GP if it doesn't improve.
By thursday its no better so I go to my GP who takes one look and tells me to tell reception to make an opointment with specialist.
While queing he rushes out to me and says he has made the appointment for 3 hrs time is that OK.
Now I am really worried and go to the appointment where my test results are back and can be viewed.
The specialist wants to see me every couple of days and is worried that they may have to opperate and clean the joint out.
If it gets to bad I may lose the use of my leg or worse.
The good news was that after a shoot load of drugs and a month of not being able to walk I was OK
Now the point is that I HAD NOT BEEN BITTEN OR HAD ANY CUTS OR ABBRASIONS ON MY KNEE, but some how a normal bacteria that is on all of our skins had got into my knee joint and at worse could of cost me My leg
SCARY OR WHAT..... Be very careful with your bodies you only get one.

Thanks M8 thats cheered me up.
Had a cute little snake outside me shop the other day and local came by and killed it straight away. I look at him cuirosly and he tells me the little feller can kill an adult man with one bite.
The locals still walk about in the fields bare Foot
