I stopped buying fast ford for a while there, but I have to say, it's pulled it's socks up and is becoming the mag it used to be in the 90's

Performance Ford is still slightly better though, in my opinion

Thanks for teh kind topic Alex, and everyone else for the kind words...

To be honest, i thought the fuel pressure essay may have been a little boring for some of you, but id spent some time explaining it to a customer in reception that day so it was kind of in my mind. I am very pleased at least a few of you enjoyed it.

Still havent decided what to do for the next one after boost controls, i really should be writing it now, instead of pissing about on teh internet.

The only issue with this months was a certain Mini/scooby driver giving his verdict on the Focus ST

stu, did you say yuo just did a fuel pressure one and a boost control one?

they were the 2 i'd have suggested

what about one on the differences between aftermarket ECUs, piggy back modules, chips etc. (ford specific) as i know that confuses the life out of a lot of people.

especially things like how/why a unichip works

Stu,
Your next topic should be cam profiles / timing and it's effects etc - it's the next logical stage for your guides .

Not convinced personally, although i have actually started that one and then left it for more inspiration. Im feeling more, spark and fuelling is more logical than a major VE adjuster like a camshaft. Dunno, though, really dont...

yeah i'd go for something like what a 'chip' actually is and does, and why you need one suited and set up to your engine spec (i.e. not bought off e-bay etc)

stu, are all the write ups going to be engine related?

or will you be covering other stuff like suspension (corner wieghts, coil overs, caster/camber etc), brakes (why bigger is not always better, pad materials, bias valves and the like), areodynamics (when is a spoiler not a spoiler, why bmw made dinky mirros etc) or what they measure when they say "your cars got xxx amount of power" (do the manufactures emasure this with just the engine and no anciliaries, on the rollers, on a bench dyno or the like) etc

looking forward to reading the fuel pressure one, the compressor maps made sense until i couldn't relate the drawings to the writing, but the writing still made sense

Engine and mapping. I am a firm believer in not straying from your specialist area. If i dont know 100% what i am talking about is accurate than i will not advise others and intend to keep it that way.

here's one, somehow get into an essay why more timing=better is NOT true, and CORRECT timing=better is true.

so many people think that you should just add as much timing as possible all the time.

im also with mike's sugestion on cam timing, as i dont really nkow how it works myself
