Yup.
Wonder how much money is wasted on hiring a team of PR egents to try and make the Police look "cool". Id much rather see the money spent on solving crimes.

C 829 FHK - number 122 of 200
So that pic was of the A12 but before it was open!!
Anyone on here own that Moonstone 3dr?? D726PVW in that pic!?
that would be strange!!
I think this car was originally sold around February 1986 to a Mr Dean Price from Portsmouth, UK with about 20,000 Miles on the clock.
I have always bought RS books and magazine, this car was pictured in Jeremy Waltons book "RS - The Faster Fords" ISBN 0-947981-21-7 - Chassis #122 is mentioned on page 201.
I read and saw a picture of C829FHK in the book on RS 200's published by unique motor books.
But far more interesting, today (Feb '04) I was given a framed black and white Ford promotional photograph featuring this car marked up in Essex Police livery stop checking a Sierra Cosworth (index D726PVW) on the A12 before it opened.
I am told this car was the one that had a bit of a mishap at the RS200 owners club meeting and ended up needing some major repairs.
November 2004 - I have been in conversation with Harvey Price who is the son of Dean Price and he tells me that the car is nearly re-built and ready to go again !

years ago late 80's early 90's in the rsoc they used to ask the same
question about that pic of the rs200 police car.
in 04 i sold a lhd cossie to a guy who worked for ford back then
he was top brass,so much so his company car was a RS200
he said it was a lhd and was almost totally unreliable,he didn't pay for fuel
but that didn't matter as it kept braking down,he also said ford would
have done anything to get one sold.
question about that pic of the rs200 police car.

Apparently the engines got cooked due to lack of airflow to the intercooler.
High ACT's with a heavy right foot from a copper didnt have a good effect on the poor car's.
2x RS200 were owned by Essex Police both with dead engines

I went to a site called RS200.org http://www.rs200.org
the guy is an owner/enthusiast and has managed to track down
quite a few of the 200..
and has listed them all, and the known history along with the
Build number and who originally bought them.
its has all the Police car pics, and an e mail from the guy who
was doing the police bit. who said it was just publicity on a Closed road,
and that was the number plate of that 3 dr (so it says)
EDIT: Check out number chassis number 128!!
UNREGISTERED to this day.. and 74 miles on the clock!!
for sale for £48,000!!

Just thought I'd add a bit of history to this picture, my dad worked at Dunton in the mid 80's and after the RS200 was banned from groupB ford had about 180 of these sitting around that they couldn't sell. As a result they were offered to managers for £15k. Sadly it scared the life out of him and he didn't buy one... Ford did a lot of promotions like this to try and get rid, but it would never have been used by plod as there's nowhere to store all the equipment they need for traffic. Great pictures though 😄
