Default TV card for PC *got & now problems* :Grrrr:

Basically I've been looking at putting a TV card in my PC so I can connect my spare VCR up to it and use it to watch the TV and copy my old VHS camcorder stuff into a digital format without losing to much of the quality.

I don't mind spending a bit to get something right but I don't want to pay out for stuff I won't need.

I've found this on the PC-World site and have found a store local(ish) that has it in stock.

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/sto...ull&tabIndex=1

Yay/Nay tips, hints, suggestions.

You'll probably need a 3rd party bit of software to caputer the audio and sound of the video recorder

I', sure the net will provide something

do you want to watch freeview on your PC?

if so look at the pinnacle stuff (the winTV digital stuff wont accept an analog input from the camcorder/vcr)

if you don't want freeview on yuor PC, get the WINTV Go USB (get USB so that 1: less interference from internal components, 2 you cna plug it into your mates PCs)

Well after taking the advice from the nice man in PC World and me explaining 3 or 4 times that I didn't want to watch telly on it just be able to connect my camcorder to it through a VCR I got a card. Bloke tried to sell me various mega expensive cards and once he realised he wasn't going to get me to buy a new PC I ended up coming home with a TV card.

My bro fitted it all up and............. It only does digital TV and won't accept the signal from my VCR. Waste of £40 PC World are fucking useless, Where do I stand with taking it back as it doesn't do what I brought it to do and what I told the guy (several times) I wanted it for.

That is the exact grounds for return. It doesnt do the job that it was purchased to do. I would go and see the same bloke to save yourself having to explain it a further 4 times to the Sunday boy.

You sought advice by explaining what you wanted it to do
You took the advice and bought it
You get it home and it doesnt do what was asked

Thnk I shall be having words with the chap

Typically after I got it I had several people tell me they wouldn't have gone to PC World

Mate, did you not read my reply

If its something that you have put into your machine then i dont like your chances of being able to return for a refund or swap for something else

When i bought some headphone and realised they were shit they didnt wanna know, just basically put the phone down on me
