Default MOT Date Question

How close to the MOT expiry date does the new MOT have to be for it to take a date a year after the expiry?

I think it's a month but I'm not sure and someone else told me it's two weeks.

Anyone know?

Thanks in advance.

It's a month IIRC unless it changed with all the new regs recently. Check the DVLA website.

Just take you old cert with you or they will have to start the new MOT from the date of issue.

not that I have ever done that

That doesn't sound particularly fair!

Thanks for the information mate.
