Default FAO: Big Power 1600 Owners...

I have a very good feeling that there is going to be a new sherif in town. I went out in something rather special last night.

Oh, by the way... Has anybody seen Performance Ford this month?

Thanks again Tom

Hello Tony,

Yes I've read the latest magazine, and have to say that Tim's car beat Tom's times for everthing and by a good margin too! Not bad considering Tim's engine is 27,000 miles old and due for replacement next month!

New sherif in town.................I don't think so.

I saw the mag as well. I know it said he had problems with the car and thats why the times were down. BUT when looking at the engine bay, it seemed like everything was really over complicated and changed just for the sake of it.

I know fook all though

Clearly alot of time and work gone in on it though

The times were down for 2 reasons 1 because getting 3rd gear wasn't happening although this is being looked into to get sorted, secondly this was the first time the car had been driven, and basically still a bit of trial & error & getting used to it. Once the car has been used a bit more & the third gear issue has been sorted the times should come down nicely, although as stated by Tom & in the magazine the car wasn't built to go quickly in a straight line, it was built for the track.

Not too much has changed in the engine bay really since it was last featured, the inlet & the exhaust manifold & also the turbo mainly to get better air flow through the engine. only thing that really sticks out is the cross over pipe being moved to the side of the engine so to keep it away from the turbo / manifold & keep air charge temps down a bit. Oh & the rad being moved to the boot to make room for the turbo

I can't wait to see Tom's car too, would like a spin in it!

On the subject of thrashing all the 1600's together, yes it's a great idea, but it doesn't really prove what you want it to prove. All our cars were built for different things and because one is quicker top speed and another over a quarter mile how can that be correlated into anything useful?

Don't get me wrong, I love thrashes as much, if not more, than anyone, but I still think Performance Ford have the best format. It's just a shame its only once a year!!

Why don't you do a 30-130 test like MLR boys do. Seems a fair performance test

Here we go again! You have to love the internet. Why do we all get whooped by other makes time and time again? Because we spend more time bickering about who's faster than appreciating other's achievements and learn from them. Let's face it...how many people will now copy the rad in the boot in the near future?! I personally think it's a great car with some great ideas and I can't wait to use some next time I rebuild. Top Car IMHO

Why's the Daddy Thrash only once a year? Well probably because of cost!! Does anyone have the foggiest how much it actually costs to have 12 cars there pretty much all day? Actually it's more than 12 usually isn't it that PF end up picking the bill up for

30-130 would be cool. Looking at the figures, christians was the quickest from the 1/4 to the mile.

That's because, by then, the car is rolling and my inability to launch is completely irrelevant. I think that would be a good thing to test as it's not so reliant on peoples own ability, choice of tyres etc etc.....

I say lets test 30-130!!

Take the launch factor out of it, and you're a strong contender for a good race m8

This is the escort that had a proved 298bhp (I think) on Jamsport rolling road at 1.5bar boost it was 319 bhp at either 1.8 or 2 bar boost when it was first mapped & in the PF feature first time round on a modded T3. It now has different inlet manifold, different exhaust manifold & T4 & the bhp / torque is unknown at the moment as not been on a rolling road / dyno to find out the difference these have made yet
