the thing is mike i have had a couple of zetec turbo's and there really reliable the rev really well to and love being thrashed steve simpson put GEMS on my last one and it was amazing never missed a beat and was thrashed to death but every time i turned the key it always started and never ever missed a beat and was lots of fun to drive with the CTS box built by bearnie

Actually, it felt the same, just minus 200Kg and less grip and slower top speed .
Mine would have MURDERED your car from 135mph onwards.
In fact given your gearbox issues, mine would have beaten your acceleration times as well .
Hopefully we'll be able to put it to the test at the PF daddy thrash at the end of the year.

..I know what times the Escort can do, and I know it's not quick enough to compete at TOTB, so I didn't bother. Towards the end of the day when the times were not coming down as much as expected, I was tempted, but even if they had been faster than the cars there, they still wouldn't have been up to what I would have wanted for TOTB. The new engine should be a different kettle of tuna though....

Mike, 1275 is kerb weight...
Add some fuel, water and a driver and its 400kilo's
Don't forget mine is long geared so will feel slower than a saff of standard gearing.
Still i think it was much faster than your saff cause i know how fast that felt LOL

Mine was also on tall gearing when you went in the car
(3.36 final drive), but is now back on standard 3.64 .
