Default My new tubular lower arms made by Zoo Motorsport

I set off on a 3 and a bit hour journey to Zoo Motorsport for Brom to fit me some new lower arms as I don’t like the ford ones for replacing them, see pic below why, and I was sick of replacing them

This was a member off feoc-uk.com that this happened to

So I arrive at Zoo at about 10:50am (appointment between 10 - 11am) and was faced with the following

Shut

Then he turned up I must have gave him my work tel number and email as he tried phoning/emailing to say it would be later on that he could work on them as his usual suppliers were shut so the parts where taking longer to get done at the engineers, and as we traveled so far he couldn’t postpone it till tomorrow.

So off to Merry Hill shopping center we go as he can’t start till he gets the ball joint bits machined.

Got back and then he starts work

The Arm

My newer old ford arm

My other old fooked ford arm

Bit of paint

New tubular arm lining up with ford arm before it goes onto Broms jig as you can see his new design silver ends has rubber gators on sealed with grease inside, these ends last a lot longer than the older design but cost more.

OLD DESIGN gold ends (not for ford escort mk6)

Fitting them to my car

And what a difference it makes I will be getting the rear beam done someday as well

The steering it more responsive and the front end feels nice and tight Brom is spot on and I would deffo recommend him to anyone

I really like the new design with the dust cover. I was having to grease mine weekly to stop them fookin squeeking.

Broke one of my arms last night though. Luckily was only pulling away when it happened or i might not be here now or the very leaset the car would of been fooked.

No one else has managed to break one so hopefully it was only a one off and i was very very unlucky. Was really pleased with them till that happened and was loving the handling.

you are very unlucky for that to happen mate hope you get it sorted, as he has put this type of design on track day cars with no probs.

just like to add sunill has had his arms replaced as i said i would this is a very uncomman thing to happen this desidn came from short oval cars super salloons n hot rods many yrs ago taking much abuse hitting barrers other cars they never broke
i used to get the hi strenght tube 3.5 mm tubing from rally design but no i do my own turning and maching i use diffent thicker materails
the old tube had a rating of 12 tonne statc load te gold cromoly bearings have a static load of 14 tonnes
the new design
uses the same 30 mm diameter tube BUT i NOW USE 8MM WALL COLD DRAWN SEAMLESS TUBING WITH A TENSILE STRENGH OF 33 TONNES

the newer joint has a static loading of 53 tonnes on the outer joint and i side loading of 13 tonnes
your avrage road or track tyre would not pull 3 g let alown 13 g it would take to bend the joints !!!!!!!!!
i have been doing this type since i came out of hospital when i re opened zoo in april
i have not had any other complants in the 6 yrs i have been making them
only the balls in rose joint sometimes squeeked which is now why i fit grease covers to the inner joints
inner joints cost me around Ł40 each and the outer joints cost me Ł53 plus vat hence the price increase
to re asure everbody convedence i am going to get the old arm tested again the new and will post results to anybody intrested
just sorry its happend
i dont sell items to endanger ppls lives as anybody that know me personally i tend to make things over kill in size and strenght
