PassionFord Post Whore!!
You will get a lot of weld splattering everywhere, and the weld will look rough and dirty.
Best way to recognise it, is to get someone to turn off the gas whilst You are welding.
For car work, 0.6mm and you need the torch tips in 0.6 as well.
Don't use old rusty wire either, take the wire out if you aren't going to use it for a while and keep it somewher dry.

what it will be full of holes with no gas? I thought it was the gas that had ran out as the weld stopped flowing/pooling properely and was just spitting alot more...
as u can prob tell im new to welding so any tips would be good, cus up until the gas ran out i was well pleased!

The main purpose of the gas is to shield the molten weld pool thus preventing any oxidation of the weld.
The gas shield itself is an 'inert' gas shield which does not contaminate the weld pool.
Hope this helps.

Dave
