Default Escos crash safety?

Since the Escos was built on a Sierra floorpan would you say its similar safety wise to the Sapph or is it just as bad as a normal Escort?

Reason im asking is because the standard Escort is one of the worst cars when it comes to safety.

Thinking about getting an Escos but im getting a bit concerned about this.

EsCos floorpan was based on a shortened Sierra floorpan, but the rest of the shell is unique - it was the most torsionally stiff production bodyshell when introduced. Much improved over a Sierra...

Then you have the later EsCos' with door bars, airbags, so improved again. Still an 'old' car though, and safety systems move on every year.

That said, you don't really want to crash in any car, and the safety tests are done in a specific way - if a crash isn't on par with the tests, you're in the lap of the gods anyway.

Thats good the hear that it aint similar to the normal escort. The inscurance companies over here who got statistics from real crashes all the say its one of the worst cars. Thats what got me thinking.

as it goes mate, i was stood RIGHT where you stacked yours,
and the tail looked like it DID nearly chop that marshalls head off

and for the speed you were going, yours held up well!!

ALL them tyres,, and you had to hit the solid part

(yes i know the car was totally fuked, but bear in mind the cars seem to hit the limiter just off that corner in 3rd? so thats approx 80mph you must of been doing!?)

the Esc Cos is 100% stiffer than your std escort pile

Dave, you stacked yours, backwards at what, 70mph+

id say it stood up pretty bloody well!

do that in a 1.8 and the rear end would have touched the dash!
