i used 2 have a type r and they no bad, struggles 4 grip wen pulling away hard cos of the v-tec at 6k and lack of traction control, there wouldnt b much in it tho,if ur erst has 200bhp,if roads long enuff type r will only pass u at 155 ish and after 150 they run rite out of steam, mines was the updated type r with lighter clutch and flywheel so went up box bit quicker than older 1s, . . .+ mines had 226bhp with d cat exhaust ,mugen induction kit and dastek remap!!

My stage 3 esc cos only just managed to pass one on a motorway. When you look at the specs of a std M3 its very simlar to a stg 3 cosworth.

That focus must have had some work done to it as my mate who has a Throttle Bodied lupo wasn't far behind a std one to 130mph !!

Really amused me.

Just picturing the BM driver...."WTF is he doing still next to me??"

Sure wasn't a real one or it was running like dog shit. Quite a few people on here have no idea about M3s and by some peoples description, have never even seen one

Seems there are a few people on here who have no idea as to the capabilities of a modded Focus RS either!

Underestimate the FRS at your peril, both on the straights and twisties. Mines running roughly the same as Plynchy`s and trust me, they are a formidable road weapon!

Think it`s 12% as apposed to a 22% loss for 4wd!

So a focus RS is putting out around 190@wheels standard spec. Scooby works out at around 140bhp@wheels for a UK version iirc. I thought the cossie transmission loss was higher than 22% though.

Yours is modded, so fair enough, what I'm talking about is tin pots running 115bhp and the like. I'd still say the FRS would need to be quite a bit faster though to beat mine going by the standard one I encountered

Fair enough mate but trust me, a Bluefin and full exhaust and decat makes a huge difference to this car, more so on the torque side of things. For some reason a lot of cars this spec with the addition of a manifold, hit over 300Ib/ft easily!

I know the M3`s are a tasty motor too. What weight are they?

e36 m3 is about 13secs 0-100mph isnt and the Focus RS is about 14 secs iirc so surely as standard cars go the M3 should be slighlty quicker and the e46 is around 12secs 0-100mph, e30 was around 17 seconds again if iirc.

Standard, yes but think it`s the FRS`s weight and handling that help even things up a little!

you cars must be f'ing rapid

i raced a standard (delimited) e46 m3 at brunters, i had 167 showing on the GPS and the fricking thing was coming past me!

we then wacked the GPS on m3 and found out it only reads upto 169mph then resets itself! lol

I've pulled distance on an E46 M3 from 50 to 135 before, not much bother. Having driven my Dads old E46 M3 CS for a four hour drive though it didn't really surprise me, didn't feel all that fast at all, my Focus is much more exciting.

Disagree, E46 would do a FRS round a track, sure it's on the leaderboard on top gear and a standard FRS is 15 sec over the quarter, E46 13.3, E36 Evo 13.5 and E36 3.0 M3 13.9

i can believe this for sure, My rs is running 280-300 and i was pulling 13.7 on the 1/4.

Best giant killing though was in my old 106 gti, on the way back from trax a few years ago. a bloke in his sierra cossy dumped right next to me and waved bye bye .....pitty at 120 he was having to pull over as i was pushing him allong pmsl. Did the same to ctrs and standard uk scoobys. God i miss that car 160bhp 850kg's Crowds.

RWD M3 against FWD FRS may be something to do with quarter times!

M3 is a fantastic car but modded FRSs are not to be under-estimated!

not been funny but i dont think he could have been trying, 3 of my mates have M3 evolutions wich are less bhp than the e46 and they are very deceptive when it comes to acceleration etc. what you have to remember is these cars weigh nearly 1800kg. i was in my stage 3 escos going along nice at 155mph when one of these m3's came past with no effort at all, when we pulled up i found out it was derestricted and he was doing 170mph wen he came past. ive since been followed by my mates cars and yes off the mark my 350 hp escos blitzes them but they are always there in the rear view mirror.

I wouldn't disagree, but they need to be well modified, over 100mph it's about power, not weight, which doesn't matter anyway as the M is still faster from standstill being a lot heavier. My car can pull the limiter easily which is 157mph, a non Evo without limiter can hit 162 tested. Need to be a fast FRS. By the way, I own both types of M

i dont doubt 1 u start gettin like 140+ the M3 wud b hard to touch... but from say 40mph to 120 bet the focus wud do it!

ive raced a 311bhp focus RS from bou 20mph to 100 and i didnt start over takin to middle of 3rd gear...

was a quick car...

and they do handle well...

also as for 1/4mile.... FWD is hardly a 1/4 mile machine... FWD is all bout rollin start races!!!

Quick Reply: Had to laugh! my FRS vs. M3.
