buying a 500 is buying a rare bit of motorsport history! thats why id favour the S1 over the S2! the escos is still a really nice car - but IMO id prefer the 500 everytime!
but dont think id ever get 1 cos of the price!

I chap near me has just got a really mint black one. the word on the street is that it has only done 30k and totally standard!
I saw him in it the other day with a big Mongosse on in and some bufty crome 18"!!
Sorry but if you have a car like that its got to stay standard, thats what i think!

Driven both lots and I seriously would have my large turbo Escos over Waps old 500. It's better looking (in my opinion), far newer and much less laggy. I kicked his arse everywhere we went.
It all depends on what the car's for I guess. Waps was always wary of modding the 500 what with it being such a collectable, when at the end of the day mine is just a fast Ford Escort.

If I could afford the transmission to cope with my engine I would still revert back to an Escort Cossie tbh (and I have thought about buying one again and swapping the engine over from my 500). I have had 2 Escorts now and I love em..... but for ultra power RWD is easier on the pocket if not on my arse cheeks!

I do like my RS500 don't get me wrong, but I have always and will always love the Escorts.
Just buy both and be done with it! lol

Off topic, about that Leval 8 ECU, sorry I've not been back in touch, its for a mate and hes gone away. Sell it if you get an offer, and when I see him and if he wants it I'll be back in touch again! If its gone its gone!

When Waps bought his 500 I had to drive it back from Southampton cos he wasn't insured.
I was good for about 3 miles and then a TT went past close and fast so I chased after it. I think I had my foot fully on the gas for about oohh... half an hour before the turbo kicked in. Thought he'd bought a ringer for a mo!

hi paul , my mate is selling his i think , its a black one with about 50k on the clock , he go's to the shows and you may have seen it on our stand , (durham) at lightwater valley, its standard i think and is v.v.nice,
my other mate bought a one about a year ago with 7k on the clock , its a white one and he paid 18k for it

personally i know what you mean about the attraction of a 500 but having seen your escoz , id have yours over me mates 7k 500 any day, its far superior in 'EVERY WAY' and its purely down to personal preference, escoz looks and goes better imo, bring on the onslaught from the 500 crew

interesting thread, as I too have a very low miles Escos big turbo currently squirreled away in the garage,and was thinking of chopping it in for a moonstone 500,I would deffo spend 18 grand for a 7000 miler,but they are few and far between,I didn't think people rated them over an Escos,I thought it was just me being weird,has got me thinking about it again though
