how much on average to keep cossie/rst on the road
i dont mean a 500hp one,....i mean your average cossie
ie: insuarnce, fuel, servicing, repairs,....etc....
any input???
my lil bro wants to buy one, but i cant remember how much it worked out a month to keep it on the road,......on average,....

wouldnt like to work it out, might realise I cant afford it really depends on age and driving history how many miles etc for fuel and obviously the car, if it needs bits and bobs or is coming up for a re build then it will be quite a lot, im lucky enough that if the cossie brakes and I dont have enough to fix it I just put it away till the end of the month and use one of my other cars, when I drove it every day it was a struggle always needing bits and bobs and constantly putting fuel in.

Easiest way to think about it is.. if you have to work out how much it will cost to keep or worry about how many miles it will do out of your 20 quids worth of petrol then you cant afford it

mine is at least £200 a month in fuel alone... but it is my daily runner
no major reliability peoblems as yet (i did the headgasket before i put it on the road, its had 1 rear diff pop because i went over a mini-roundabout sudeways and landed HARD)!
insurance is £1100 a year and i'm 21 with 4 years ncb.
servicing...? i probably spend £500-700 a year on bits and bobs to keep it running smoothly (including brake pads & discs, tyres, filters etc).
all in all its not too bad... but i still cant wait to get my diesel saff running so i can enjoy the cossie how i want to

well to put in perspective, i have a standard cvh 1.6i in the cab and i average 10p a mile fuel,
so id say to be fair on an rst, looking about 13p cos of the extra load the turbo adds,
on a 2ltr cossy allow 16p then u got wear n tear,
again cvh is cheaper by far, alot of the rst parts are same on all cvh, cossy tend to be unique to the car!!! so allow ariund 15% extra on ure standard car, then insurance just get a quote from tesco or summit for ure current car and aother for rst and cossy then u get an idea of the extra!!!!

As a daily runner, LOADS. Only use mine May-October and the fuel alone is bad enough 20-22 mpg all the time. Parts can be a nightmare to find, never mind pay for. Usually spend a few hundred on mine every winter just keeping on top of it, it got very expensive a few years back with a rebuild etc.
A Porsche is a lot cheaper to run. I had one.

Really does depend mate...one month my s2 costs very little to run the next it kicks me in the bollox and runs off with my wallet!
insurance,petrol,wear and tear adds upto alot on these sort of cars also its the unforseen expenses like melting pistons and gear boxes going bang!
just tell him to buy one and worry about it afterwards he wont care how much its costing when he's drivin on boost

Every persons circumstances are different meaning different running cost between different owners. My S1 costs me roughly £100 a month (insurance and fuel) but I don't use it that often....

get an rs turbo in the best nick you can afford! one that doesn't need the odd job doing to it.
id stay away from a cossie unless your minted!!
if you can find a mint one it won't cost the earth to run unless you start tinkering with mods etc!!
