..... a red light affect insurance?

I've just been stopped by 2 coppers on going through an AMBER light, and he's given me the 60 quid + 3 paperwork. C*nt.

He said I should have stopped. C*nt.

Nothing much mate, classed the same as an SP30 Only a minor conviction.

I got one when i'd just passed my test, TS10 they are, didn't affect anything at all

One of my mates got done speeding through a set of lights (one's that have the gatso box by them) he got his picture taken speeding through when it was almost red. I believe he only got 3 points, but a hefty fine of Ł1k! Think it did effect things more than an SP30.

I thought the TS10 (I actually thought it was a DS10?) is more serious than an SP30?

ive had all manner of points in my time

ive spoken to insurance compnaies about them and most stated that the first three points dont really affect your insurance as they know that stupid situations like this one exist.

I was told that its only when you get six or more they really start to pay attention

I 'heard' that insurance companies aren't as bad on drivers with 9 points than drivers with 6 points as 9 point drivers 'wont take as many risk's'

gettin caught going through a red light is quite severe in the eyes of an insurance company as it shows ur willing to take risks, which leads to accidents ...but most see an sp30 as a matter of course with the amount of speed cameras about!

Shit luck Steve ...woman in front of me earlier in the week went through a red light and then proceeded to push her way through green light traffic from the other direction, not discouraged by the beeping and swearing from car windows... then the police give innocent people 3 points for just nipping through in time....totally outrageous

agree with shane.insurance company told me they take a harder line on jumping a red than an sp30 as it shows your willing to take risks in a possibly dangerous situation.my insurance went up 15% for each 3 points i got for 3 sp30's.if id got a 4th it would have been 15% for the points and another 25% for getting a ban.when 6 of my points came off though, the premium didnt go back down.tossers.

Amber or amber and red? If it was just amber I would contest it if I were you as your not obliged to to stop on amber.

Sure?

Makes me laugh reading threads like these. You broke the rules and got caught.

Deal with it

And dont roll out that "Wish they'd solve real crime" Traffic Police deal with Road Incidents There are other Police doing Robberies, Muggings, Paedophiles, Rapes etc. Its not an either or situation

Haven't read the link but yes i`m sure: Red and Amber = stop, Amber on its own = stop unless you've already crossed the stop line or if you feel you are to close to stop without causing an accident.

Actually, just read the link and:

Quote:
"You may go on only if the AMBER appears after you have crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to pull up might cause an accident"

So yeah I`m 100% sure you're not obligated to stop for a single amber

Edited to say - Just because you're not obligated to stop doesn't mean you shouldn't stop.

a mate of mine is the area manager for swinton/colanade insurance, had a disscution with him about points, and he says it doesnt really make a big diiference unless you get 6 points and over, so i suppose it depends if you have any points allready.

Hardly!

Amber means STOP

UNLESS

Doing so would cause an accident.

Without having seen this incident. If matey at the top of this thread had stopped when it turned AMBER he wouldnt of caused an accident, therefore he was in the wrong. Im not saying its not a harsh interpretation of the rules, but if you have a Policeman in the vicinity, you take extra care.

Perhaps you can show me where I said I didn't break the rules? Or perhaps the part where I am saying I'm going to take it to court and kick up a fuss? And if you are talking about the c*nt part, I'm not really going to say thanks now am I? Especially seeing as there was more to it than just blindly driving through a red light...

Now where's that wanker smiley...
