ARRRRGGHHHH!!!! FOOKING T-CUTS KILLED MY CAR
fookin shite stuff, bonnet was a bit scratched so thought i'd give it a T-cut, get them all out before i polished it all up.
applied the T-Cut, let 15min, came back to car, to find it had stuck like glue! after 2 hrs of hard (and i mean fucking hard) labour, i've managed to get most of it off, but its left more scratches and its still patchy marks where the shit just wont budge!
in the end its made the bonnet worse now, n dont know how to get it off completely
only thing is the T-cuts about 5 years old (but it doesn't have a use by date)

if its all off now then id try to polish it up again. if still patchy then dare i say it - try t cut again & do it quick this time!

I saw on TV program a bloke used it then washed it off with warm water he explained that it's a cutting compound and if you keep rubbing it keeps cutting into the paint but once you've got the mark/orange peel out you wash it off.
most people use it a little at a time and remove it with clean cloth which is why the don't have problems.
me i'm scared shitless of the stuff after polishing my mums car with t-cut in the summer holidays when i was a kid fooked it right up.
don't get me started on them fooking mops either
hth
cheers

straight on and near enough straight off. If you are quick you should just about get a bonnet waxed before its time to take it off again. The sun is a killer as well as it turns it chalky which will scratch it.

apples cheers for the offer mate, up in W.yorks tho, bit of a trek
i just assumed you leave it 15min (like ya do with polish)
Can T-cut go off? or was it just down to the fact i left it so long?
whats better standard T-cut or the stuff that is coloured to your car?
just need to get all the fine scratches out of it
cheeRS everyone

T-Cut doesn't go off it just dries out. When it is completely dry the cloth you use will struggle to remove it.
For fine scratches and cob webs a normal polish like AutoGlyms Super Resin Polish or Mequiars Gold Class stage-2 polish should remove them without making it worse.

nah, autoglym hasn't removed them, thats why i thought i'd go for T-cut, its worked on the original scratches just add some new ones now
sorry when i said go off, i meant over time, i've had the bottle over 5 years and its gone abit scabby,

Try the AutoGlym Paint Renovator then, that's more hardcore but you will need to re-polish with the Super Resin after.
Meguiars to a 3-stage system with a seperate cutting polish, finishing polish and wax.

imo you would be better using something less harsh try turtle wax original colour restorer may be better.. it wont cut about 10 layers of paint away and is MUCH easier to remove than T-cut fine for getting light scratches out...
If you have deeper scratches then use a mop or at least a buffer thing (i bought one from makro and it takes all the work out of doing it!) as it will take you FOR EVER by hand

PMSL @ leavint T Cut to dry!!!
You're meant to apply it in small sections (on large panels do a 12 inch square partch at a time) and rub it into the paint. This means you put a lot of pressure onto the panel (but not too much to buckle the panel obviously). Make sure the rag is shaped like a pad and is smooth (no creases in it because the pressure you're meant to apply to the panel with the rag will make the paint it there is a crease in it. Then you will have to TCut it again). If the patch you are T Cutting starts to dry out then apply some more.......the actuall t cut should turn the colour of your car and so should the rag also. If you leave it to dry then you can TCut it back off in the same way as long as there are no hard lumps of it (break them of first).
If you do not rub the T Cut into the paint then the paint will start to dull after a short while and will end up back as it was.
Polish you leave on to dry...not T Cut!
It's a lot easier with a mop and rubbing compound....esspecially in this weather. Just remember not to let the T Cut dry and you should be alright....apart from sweating you knackers off.....

A mop.... proper term is a buffer or polisher...its like a slow speed large angle grinder with a sponge (or other buffing attatchment) and it rotates round a lot slower than an angle grinder and takes a lot of the effort out of compounding the pain yourself...

lol you can burn the paint off the car if you hold it in the same spot too long
If used correctly then they are fine.. just dont use cutting compound (G3) all the time or you wont have any paint left!
