Cosworth Amal/boost control valve question . . .
I know that the Amal valve is suppose to click on when you power the car - but mine is not working right - I have low boost and doesn't vary at RPMs, the boost control is not working at all.
I checked the wires going into the valve and get the 12+ volts, what controls the on/off to the amal valve? Ground or positive? My thought is maybe a bad ground to it and not popping the valve, but I don't want the put a separate ground to it if the ECU uses ground to control it.
I tested the valve off a interior battery line and it does click when I give it power, so I know it should work.
By the way - thanks to all that helped me with my low volatge situation before - was a bad ground afterall to the engine.

I think it has a decent ground on the wire, but the wire was a little corroded/blacked when I stripped it and put a new end connector on it - maybe something to that?

i really dont know about escort ecu's (i know v little about sierra's lol) but i think the iscv and amal are on the same circuit so i would guess if it a loom issue both would be effected?

I don't think its the circuit - the ALS valve I have works fine. I might try the old unplug the ECU and replug it in routine and see if it starts working again. Either that or maybe the wire is faulty.
Thanks!
Thanks!
