Default WHAts this?

im renewing my esc cos fuel pump and this is attached to the bottom of it,cant see any purpose for it really apart from it restricting the area of the filter,never seen one fitted before

Not familiar with Escos in-tank pumps but I have worked with totally submerged large pumps in industrial equipment and would say that its there to stop the pump sucking itself down onto the bottom of the tank and causing fuel starvation.

that pump does get pretty close to the bottom,so, i would say the same as above

good idea,maybe i should fit it to the new one then,also noticed some of the pumps are wrapped with something like black foam,is this to make them quiter?

not home made damo,but would be easy to make one,its a very tight fit on the pump,looks like ill refit it then
