Try confused.com if you haven't...gives you a list which makes it easier to see who's very expensive...a lot of the places that are cheap for say, your parents, will be very expensive for you. Tesco was very expensive for me last year so didn't go with them, however much cheaper this year...a lot of people did well with budget though...if that's any use

my dad says that there are some companies that will let me go under in but still allow me to get no claims so i might see how many companies do that, then my dad can spend more on my car

fiat uno 1.1 for 800 in 2001. then swapped for a frst at 19 2300 TPFT. seems like a lot but i thought it was value for money at the time considering the quotes on an uno!

"the insurance companies bring it upon themselves"

?

are you THICK or something

cause and effect my good man, THINK about it

and the whole "it's my car and i can do what i like with it" thing doesnt work either. they're not YOUR roads tho are they that you're driving on

what about all the other people in the world that pay for PROPER car insurance (you know, the kind that pays out when they run people over) maybe they're just mugs for spending their hard earned cash on insurance. ha ha you've got one up on them havent you! :rol:

he're a situation for you, you're out racing about in your car, and the wheel falls off (i'm assuming if youre too cheap to insure the thing you're likely too cheap to service and maintain it, so your wheelbearing just failed, hub snapped and you're now on 3 wheels) now, you go into a massive spin onto the pavement, run over 5 kiddies that were walking home from school then plant the car thru someone's wall and crash it through the front of their house.

whoops, that'll cost the insurance companies a few bob won't it, all those pay outs

..oh no wait it won't, your insurance is void

If I may jump in here, maybe you consider me a right bast@@@ but when I stop something that isn't what it states on the log book I tend to take some digital images and then contact the insurance company telling them about the surprising mods.

A lot of companies will then state the 'client' is actually not legally insured and so I can knock em off.

If its office hours I can even contact the insurance company from the side of the road and if they say they will not homour the insurance then I will get the car recovered under our newish regs.

I am posting this just to let you all know that if you dont decalre mods then you are fair game.

Taking photos is nothing new, we do it quite a lot nowadays.

Also, (must word this carefully), after 15 years you get a 'feel' for some folks as to whether they are legit or not!

As stated, this post is really to warn users that these actions are open to us and we will use em.

Tbh mate, they try to get out of every pay out anyway. If I stick an rs kit on my fiesta and crash it into someone else does that mean my bodykit was making me go faster and affected my driving ability? they still wouldn't pay out because it wasn't declared. think about it.

Did I not make that clear enough..

What the fuck is some PVC arches and skirts going to do so violently to my car that the insurance should become invalid? I do believe not declaring engine changes is taking the piss. But wheels, ford parts, etc. etc. is stupid. IMO. I believe the person should be insured rather than the vehicle.

Because your car is changed from the original manufacturers specification. Wether it makes it more steal'able or more expensive to repair it doesnt matter. Your insurance policy clearly states it has to be as it came out of the factory and insurance companies will do anything not to have to pay out. It's hard enough getting them to pay out sometimes when everything is legit let alone when you've voided your policy. I know first hand mate as I used to work for one of the fookers.

Thats what I'm saying, how pathetic is it? if you declare it they chuck on about £100 when it cost you about £25.. thats the reason so many people drive without declaring mods.

so if I change my tyres from the manufacturers spec, i'm in the wrong? pirelli as standard. I have falkens, stone me

Nah tyres arent part of it

I know what you're saying mate. but It really isnt worth giving them any ammunition. It's exactly what they want to find when you put in a claim.
