Default Photography Peeps help!

Just acquired a canon eos 500n and would like to know how to use the fooking thing

Is there anywhere online i can download a manual? New to slr's so any help appreciated

Easiest thing to do mate. Turn it on. put a film in. close the back. turn the left side dial to the green square. Press button part way down to autofocus press it whole way down to take the picture

thanks mate i'd got that far but just wanted to know what all the shit meant, how to adjust aperture settings etc?? is the green square a kinda auto then?

Yeah, green square is full auto

P is programed so you choose if you want to use a flash etc, what focus points you want to use yada yada.

Tv is where you set shutter speed and the camera does the aperture auto

Av is where you set aperture camera sets shutter automatically

M is fully manual, you set aperture and shutter speeds

Face is portrait auto setting

Mountain is landscape auto setting

Flower is close up auto setting

Running man is sports auto.

I think thats all the 500 has. Havent looked at one for a few years. let me know if theres anymore and i'll tell you what they do

thanks mate very helpfull

on the aperture setting the higher the num the larger the opening??

guess you use wider aperture with quicker shutter speeds

Other way round for aperture mate. Lower the number the more light the lens lets in. so the more light you let in the faster you want the shutter speed.

I think i've got that the right way round. I always confuse myself when i'm trying to explain it
