zetec pistons, taken the top to rings off does the third one have to come off to as this is something to do with the oil?

putting new rings on them as part of my rebuild, just cleaning up all parts, new shells and all gaskets. only done 60k so im not too worried.
so do i have to take third one out if fitting new ones?

no mate not as yet, but will order them this afternoon once i know if i dont need the last ring or not lol
do you replace all 3 rings or just the top 2?

While you've got your pistons out - i'd definitely do them.
Not worth sticking them back in and it starting to smoke 6 months down the line...
