Default drinking in france.....is this true?

ok so i told my dad im going to paris for the weekend for a mates birthday.

he said "if u do nothing else the whole weekend, remember the 3 french rules, 1) drinking outside is deerest, 2) sitting in a bar at a table is cheaper, 3) drinking at the bar is cheaper still"

is it true that the french openly have 3 different prices for drinks depending on where u plan on drinking it?

were getting the ferry early saturday morning and coming back late sunday.
can anyone reccomend good places to go in paris and the best place to stay and park.
were driving and planning on staying in a hotel rather than the car.
kind of going there blind so any suggestions would be great.

cheers guys!

only 1 way to find out for sure i guess.

go up to the barman and ask him in a broad cockney accent "wheres the cheapest place to sit to have a beer mate"

i can almost see the confusion on his face already.

do u normally book hotels in advance mate? or jut drive about and loo for somewhere?

Well, lived 23 years in France, most of it in or around Paris and still go back a few times a year and never heard of it!

There are places that will do food / drinks to eat in or take away like over here but don't know of 3 different prices depending on where you sit!

Just ask for the price list before you order!

Stu, they must see you and your mates coming!!

Ah, you underestimate me my friend

I'm not a bad skier, no world class downhiller but I can comfortably get the cable car to the top and ski down.

Believe it or not I bought it about 10 years ago at a ski show. Apparently the story I got told was there were only about 50 or so ever made and a snow boarding team had most of them but the ones left over were sold off, and I bought one.

It is real loud........... I LOVE it !!! Of course it'e the complete opposite of my personality being the shy quiet wallflower that I am........ *cough* BULLSHIT *cough*

It is true but only in cities really, defo true in paris,

but most of the time, if you have your first beer inside, then go sitting outdside and walkt the bar to order you'll get bar price.

But that's ages ago, last 20 visits to Paris was for work, so no drinking beers outside

In La Rochelle the price didn't differ, but some bars in Paris it really is like that.

Yes its true but another bit of advice [in Paris esp] is to say you are a Scot or even Welsh as the English are regarded as troublemakers and some of the town centre bars charge the top rate regardless if you are or admit to being English.

Take the train / Metro system if visiting Paris.

If you manage to find a parking spot, rest assured to come back to a car with the bumpers hanging off
