they are a good move on anything above stage one...

although some cars seem to breath heavier than others..

i have seen a stage three car run no breather without any probs and also have seen a stage one car blowing shit loads of oil out standard breather

I have a baileys setup on my fiecos and cant fault it.
(not saying its perfect, and it could be improved alot, just by looking at it.)

But even on a hard trackday, it wont smoke, use oil, nor drip abit of oil out of the breather.
But then again, my engine is good.

So might not be the same on a stg3 cossie with 120k miles on the clock.

So when u fit an uprated breather is it a good idea to remove the kidney block completely?!?!?! and what do you do just find a suitable push in fit breather tap?!?!

Also the return to sump breather plug on the side of the block under the turbo is that ok to use as its gonna be alot higher than the oil level i would have thought?!?!

I've left my kidney box in place. The turbo side plug is much higher than the oil level, which is why I have a -8 fitting welded into my sump

Mine is a Bailey breather, bresthing from the top of the kidney box, the plug on the turbo side of the block, returning to the sump below the oil level, and venting to atmosphere via a large bore pipe

Seems to work very well - at least it doesnt spew oil out of the vent pipe ever

Neil.

As far as I understand, providing you have 2 inlets, 2 outlets and a return to sump you're ok?

Breathe from say rocker cover and fire trap, 2 venting to atmosphere under the car, and one return to sump below oil level!

And as far as I can see most of the breathers posted do not seem to have any ports that vent to the atmosphere?

On the bailey's setup, i run it as they say too.

- inlets to breather,

it has a 15mm off rocker cover, std one off kidney box 9either 15 or 22mm).

- oil return to engine,

13mm pipe going to turbo side block.

- air outlet,

1x 30mm to atmosphere

So it dont matter how many pipes out (compared to in) as long as it can flow the same. and the amount of flow is highenuff for the sed engine.

and on a bailey's the outlet can flow more out that it can take in.

But the other most important thing, is the design insidethe breather, that separates the oil from the air,

I had a Spec R breather before the Bailey's and that didn't work, and kept getting oil coming out of the 15mm outlet to atmosphere.

Well on mine i had the return going back to the sump using the hole in the block under the turbo as ive got 1 of the breathers running from the rocker cover, 1 from the kidney box then the big one going to atmosphere!!! and thats a baileys breather

So the question is...........is the return pipe better going to the breather hole on the side of the block under the turbo with a fitting in it or is it better returning to the sump via a welded in fitting?!

Seems to be a mixed opinion on where to have the return going but would be helpful for when i sort my next one out!!!

Try either Rally Design, or Burton power.
