Default PC boffs - FAO JIM!!!!

I remember someone on here saying the same thing, but I can't find the thread

I just downloaded a programme someone sent me via a hosting site (yousendit.com) and it's supposed to be a 12mb exe file for installing a programme...

Anyway, it downloaded but for some reason saved as a .txt file! When you open it, you have a blank text doc But it's still 12.6mb...

Now I am sure someone said you can simply change the file extension from .txt to .exe, but I don't know how to do this - anyone help me?

tools menu - folder options. then goto file types. untick the bit that says hide extensions for known file types. u should see the extension on the end of the file then, and u can just rename it.

Thrush, save it to your C: drive, open a DOS prompt, and run it from there, it'll let you see the error.

if a DOS box opens and siddapears, then its likely saying that it isnt a valid win32 application, ie its NOT a program
