Default Cossie 2wd diff

The diff on my 2wd saph is fooked, so i am in need of a new one.

Currently running 400+ bhp, maybe in future 500.

What is the best diff for fast launches with this sort of power? And where to get it from and what are the costs.

thanx.

Brom uses a Jag diff
I and a few other use a Gripper Plated, mine has handled full bore lauches in the A1 Focus on Drag tyres 500bhp+75nos
Rod Tarry used to use the Quiaffe(spelling?) ATB dont think he had any problems with his 500bhp+nos

Thanx for the reply's

When going for Quaiffe or Gripper diffs, can i use the standard 7 1/2" diff housing and crownwheel? or do i need uprated items for them aswell?

Kevin / Markk? are those 9" diffs still available? and where / at what price?

(anyone knows a good used unit for sale?? )

sorry . what i meant to say , was dont use the viscous unit if you want to go round corners fast , uve had them pumped up in the back of my 2wd and once they lock they take forever to unlock for a corner , so you end up with fookin chronic understeer , great fro straight lineing tho !!

imo , i wouldnt run a 7.5 diff of any form in a 500hp cossie , the plated/quaife is perfect for up to 450hp but after that i think its only borrowed time before she blows

gav did you see the state of the gripper that steve blew at the pod in his focus

so i think you have to decide wether you will actually ever go 500hp or not as the price difference between the 7.5 and 9 inch is a lot!!

btw , the 9 inch would be my choice

swerv,
did you see the state of the gripper that steve blew at the pod in his focus

i would like to bet that the resulting damage was due to crownwheel/pinion expiring not the fault of the gripper unit itself

That was a ZF, but from what i am told Gripper copied the design
Will just have to see how mine goes, but it was inspected by Bernie and he said it was fine

mark yes it stripped the crownwheel and was not the fault of the unit itself , but it was just too small

gav didnt know it was a ZF and yes gripper did copy them dont think a gripper is as good as a ZF though , i would also like to see how long yours is going to last gav , shall i bring a tow rope to the pod
