Depends on marque - 1 or 2, 1 being XR4i and 3dr Cossy, 2 being XR4x4 and Saff Cossie.
1's and 2's do have different part numbers, but as far as I can tell you can swich em without hassle. I will double check this 2morrow and comfirm 100% tho...
The only differences I know are colours. mk1 Sierra's had either plain bronze tint, or bronze with blue top tint. Mk2's had either plain green, or green with blue top tint, and also came with heated option.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
The lower corners of the glass screens themselves are different and not interchangeable.
Mk 1 has rounded corners, Mk2 almost square
Or is it the other way round? Whatever, they don't fit each other's holes.

Darren - mk1 Sierra screens are NOT compatible with mk2 screens, and vice versa.
Checked it out today at work - the eruo code for a mk1 (1982-87) is 3539 and available in bronze or bronze-blue (blue top tint) and not heated. the Mk2 (1987-1993) is 3543 and available in green, green heated, green-blue and green-blue heated. Trims are the same trims (all on euro code 3539) but the screens themselves aren't interchangeable. Apart from a size and slight shape variation, there is a slightly different bow to the screen (the curve the screen has) and whilst this is only slight, it does make a difference for a proper fit - over time you will get leaking and probably stress cracking from the screen, if the wrong screen is fitted in the wrong car...
Hope this helps
Your closest glass supplier is probably Master Auto Glass (http://www.master-auto-glass.com/branches.html) in Birmingham. Screens are Ł87 (inc VAT) IIRC for a mk1 bronze-blue. Autoglass (the fitting company, that I work for) will charge you more for this, plus VAT and fitting) so if you aren't fully comp, then you're looking at a few quid to get it fitted.
My advice? Get a new screen from Master Auto Glass, then go to your local Autoglas (or other windscreen fitting company) and approach a few of the fitters. Tell em you have a brand new screen from Masters, and just want it fitting. Most fitters take on private work, and a Sierra screen is about Ł30-Ł40 (depending on fitter - I have been known to do em for as low as Ł20 myself!!! Depending on "client" of course ) and I am sure you will find someone to do it for you.
If you wasn't so far away, I'd do it myself!

Fudge - I pressume you mean the trim around the glass on the screen? It's not actually a "rubber", as the glass you have is bonded in - not held in with a rubber like on a mk3/4 escort.
But that splitting hairs
Yes you can still get them, and the Mk1 and Mk2 are the same. Don't know if Ford still do them, but when we get Sierra trim, we get it on a big fook off roll So it's just cut to length for the screen when fitted.
Depending on your insurance company will determine who you have fit the screen - Autoglass or RAC Autowindscreens. Again, I would happily do it for you as a private job, but your miles away and it's gonna work out more expensive than getting it don't on your insurance....
Let me know who your underwriter is, not the insurance broker, and I will probably be able to tell you which company they direct bill (Autoglass or RAC), and then all you need to do is ring your local branch, give em the reg (and make and model if it doesn't come up on the DVLA VRN lister), and tell em you have a bronze screen with a blue top tint ( ) and that you also need a new trim for it as your is perished ( )
Then when the fitter turns up he will say "shit, got the wrong screen. Mines got a top tint and yours hasn't. Do you want me to fit it anyway tho?" as he won't get any bonus unless he fits the screen You say yes, but also make a point of saying to the fitter you defintely want the new trim fitting, as (sad to say) most won't bother fitting a new one if the old one is in good enough shape (main reason is trims go back better when you use the original that cme out the car - provided it's re-fitable - and look better) I usually re-use the Sierra trims if I can save them, for the reason I just stated. They will have "molded themselves to the shape of the car and screen so will fit flatter and more flush when refitted. That said, it only take a couple weeks for a new trim to "weather in" once fitted and look perfectly normal.
Explain this to the guy, saying you deffo want a new trim and you understand it might stick out a tad once fitted, but over time will "weather down" and he'll be fine with ya

nice one mate, as for the screen it wont have one as the paint shop will rip it out when they spray the car.
my insurance is with HIC and the company is higway insurance or summut. had a screen with them last year and it was an RAC blokey that came out.
i think the trim is ok, but is had a ghay crome strip round it, and i just want a plain black one like the cossies but not sure if its different?
very good info tho mate, thanks muchly
