Default Can i rip off this ripoff merchant?

Sold my 205 mi16 about 6 months ago, but just got this email

GOODDAY SELLER,
I 'm interested in purchasing your advertised(Pug 205 MI16) and i will like to know the price if is okay by me. if I can pay with a cheque drawn in UNITED KINGDOM BANK. If this is okay with you do get back to me immediately for me to arrange the payment. Concerning the shippment, my shipper will come and pick it up from your location as soon as we seal this transaction. Do get back to me immediately with your Full Name, Contact Address and Phone Number for me to instruct my client to make the payment ASAP. Hope to hear from you soon.
Best regards,

Davis..........

It obvious by the capitals that its just been edited and spammed out.
Anyways I replied asking how much he wants to pay, and he replied "however much you want", so i asked for £4500 to which he agreed

How does his scam work

He send you a cheque for more than you want, say 9k, then asks you to hand over the car (which he doesn't want) and the other 4.5k cash.

Then about a week later, the cheque is returned unpaid

Not sure of all the ins and outs but that is the jist of it

In February 2003, a scam victim from the Czech Republic shot and killed an official at the Nigerian embassy, as a result of being scammed

There are so many Nigerian scams going on. People get caught every day and for big money but most people are too embarassed to let it be known.

There are actually academys in Lagos teaching Nigerians how to commit scams. My mate has a manual he seized entitled 'How to defraud the British Benefit System'.

I'm sure most Nigerians are completely honest and law abiding but there are also a hell of a lot that aren't. Its a sad fact but I would never trust a Nigerian.
