Default Need a quick answer PLEASE??????

OK sorry to keep asking advise but if someone could answer the following question I would appreciate it.

Question
Is it normal for the crankshaft to be discoloured at the blades next to the big-end bearings, the only way that I can describe it is that they have got a bluey black colouring to them, the same effect that you would get if you tempered a piece of metal i.e.: when you heat it then dip it in water.

I have done a search to see if I could find any photos to compare it with to see if it was normal but could not find anything

Thanks for the quick reply mate,
I thought that the crank was overheating due to the bearings being to tight, it only had a rebuild back in June 2002 so I was thinking that they might of fitted the wrong size bearings.

the crank was in perfect condition then and only needed a polish, but I dont recall seaing the discolouring then.

It is reliable or as reliable as cossies go it's not noisey in any way so I presume it's OK but just wanted to check before I put the sump back on.

Not done meny miles since the rebuild eather, so it's not as if it's a high milage thing.
