Default Just Watched 2 pit bull dogs rip a cat apart

Was out minding my own business cutting the lawn when I heard noise coming from near the cars, looked down and saw some geezer falling over the car. Was about to ask him what did he think he was doing when I heard and seen the dogs attacking something. I thought it was each other at first, then seen a cat. The owner had lost control of them and was shouting release I grabbed a plastic rake and tried to hit the dogs but to no avail by the time the old fella got out with a bucket of water the cat was dead.

The owner turned to walk away and I said you going to do anything about cleaning that up, he said he would be back to which he never returned. I called the RSPCA and they called the police down. Some sick bastards in this world.

Is it just me who thinks these dogs should be banned from public use?

Pit bulls were banned in the 90's i'm almost possitive of that.

At the time a lot of staffies were getting put down cause the police thought they were pit bulls

Dogs are great i love them, i have a 12 stone Bull Mastiff and tbh its a big daft lazy lump but if it did attact someone i dont think there is anything i could do. That said i know 100% that he wouldnt go for someone unless provoced or to protect me and me family which imo is what a dog should do

They're not banned...but have to be muzzed in public at all times and odviously they have to be on the lead...also dont confuse pit bulls with other bull breeds such as Staffordshire bull terriers as people often do and its a reputation they dont deserve...as these are harmless ive had 2 and they are only a danger to themseleves through stupidity!and totaly trustworthy with people and children,it has been documented by experts how good staffs are with children!

also its how the dogs have been raised that counts,if they are raised and socialised properely even pit bulls can be fine! Its the owners that need punishing, they should be held responsible for not having their dogs under control!

I got attacked by a dog when i was 6year old
at the time i was stood at the back of my dads lorry with him at the time, as look has it we were tightening wheel nuts up with a rather large bar and tube
Needless to say the dog got it then the owner had the cheek to come mouthing off about killing the dog so he ended up with a bit aswell
If anyone i knew got attacked i would,nt think twice about wailing it one

How about if it had been that little girls cat in her front garden? Doesn't bear thinking about what could have happened had she been nearby.

Unfortunately there are some VERY irresponsible dog owners around and the laws should be VERY much tightened to erradicate this.

I can only imagine that it was a horrific site seeing that cat being killed and I feel sorry for you and the owner of the cat....

I have a big Staffordshire Bull Terrior and hes as soft as shite ( I wouldn't have him with my 2 kids if I didn't 100% trust him ) but...... when I take him out I cannot let him off the lead if any other people are about due to the fact people see a big Staffy and shit themsleves even tho the worst he'd do is lick you to death or piss up ya leg when he gets too excited.....lol

A guy round here here has two huge American Bulldog brothers, they attacked and killed a little king cavalier in the park few months back , dogs got taken away but they got sick so with the police dodging legal action he got them back. fuckin gloats about it at the pub these days

I've got a 12.5stone mastiff and i've got him trained so i don' think he'd ever do that, but sometimes instincts can take over with dogs like these. 90% of the time he's soppy as shit but when he does kick off the power of em is pretty amazing.

Irresponsible owners of these dogs have dangerous weapons literally and should be treated accordingly

its normally the way the owner has brought them up-ive got 3 staffies and i have no problems with my 18 month old girl wrestling with them as i know they wouldnt do anything to her-on the other hand you see so many "hard boys" walking round now with staffies and alike just trying to make them fight and go for other animals-its wrong as the staffies are a superb breed.i know a guy who has a pit bull and its a great dog-its how they are brought up,i also know someone who used to fight them and they were fuckin mental, very sad.

if any of my dogs met a cat they would run a mile!!!!!but put an intruder in the house and thats a different story!

Poor cat

Twats who own and dont train the dogs right should be severly punished

Most dogs are soft if their trained right. Mate has a staffi cross and it will growl and bark like mad it you when you carry on but knows exactly when to stop and then proceeds to try and either lick or hump you to death

If that is what dogs 'do' then i stand by my original response and they should be shot!
Hardly a fair comparison with the cat and mouse thing as mice are wild vermin imo and not somebody elses pet Obviously if you meant a cat that breaks into a pet mouses cage and strangles it to death then i would agree that that also should be given the death penalty
A lot of guys that own these types of dogs seem to think that they make them look 'hard' which is very sad
I think that all dogs especially the more agressive types should have to 'by law' be trained together with their owners to a certain standard before they are allowed anywhere where they could be a danger to anyone else or other peoples pets!

APBT's weren't banned per se but under the terms of the 1991 dangerous dogs act, the importation and breeding of them were.
The fact that when the act was passed, a puppy would now be a VERY old
dog indeed means that the 'gentleman' concerned was certainly breaking
part of the law and it's not difficult to see why he 'wasn't in' when the rozzers
went round.

best go get my kitten in

Sickens and saddens me, things like this

But I agree it's not the dogs fault, but more the owners. It has been proven that dogs like Pit Bulls, and even Rotties, can be "socially accepted" and can be docile as as hell (the guy that lives next door to my brother has two Rotties, about 5/6yrs old I think, and they are INCREDIBLY soft and gentle, and he has NO problem letting his 4yr old daughter and 6yr old son play fight with them all day long). I think in most cases it is down to the conditioning of the animal by the owners - very similar to kids I belive. You mistreat the animal, or neglect it, or simply don't enforce rules or dish out punishment for bad behaviour then the dog is gonna act up and could be potentially viscious(sp). Same as kids IMO.

That in mind, I do worry that some dogs, no matter how you "bring them up" could suddenly turn. a neighbour a few houses down had a Rottie, and she was one of the nicest, dopiest dogs you could ever meet. Like Steve B said - worst it could do is like you to death! But when it was 8, for no reason, and without warning, it just turned. It bit the owners daughter on the arm, and shook the hell out of her - had to have major muscle reconstruction surgery, and still has only partial motobility of her arm - when she was a baby. Absolutely un provoked too. Apparently the baby was in the garden with the mother, and the dog ran out the lounge into the garden and just attacked the baby. The mother could do nothing to stop it, and the owner had to kill the dog to release the child (hit it with a spade I belive)

So I do worry about that, and as such I would never have an animal like that in the house, kids or not. Biggest I would go is a little Staffi, but if I was 110% sure it could be trusted with my kids (in the future) then I wouldn't keep it.

Agreed mate, i absoluteley detest any cruelty to animals but what for example if it had been two cats with someones pet rat.Its what animals do by nature.Personally i have a staff/english cross that wants to kill& eat any dog he meets so i keep him muzzled & on a lead.Owner should have been more responsible and you have to question anyones sanity that has 2 pitbulls but it aint the dogs fault.

Dog licence...would you want to pay for one if you needed it? Don't think so. This happens very rarely there is no need, but if the owner cant handle both the dogs he should have the sense not to take them both out

i am sorry for the cat here...

but sum ppls opinions r all wrong of dogs here...

firstly how can u blame the dogs for doin this? its in their nature, and as sed other animals (ie cats) kill other animals too!

secondly how can u blame wot type of dog it is? i have owned 2 staffs and now own a Rotty which we rescued from the Sun newspaper from the RSPCA. Its not down to the type of dog its down to how its raised 100%, my staffs and even my rotty(which was badly mistreated up till we got it) r soft as anythin with any1 who is let into my house and welcomed and great with kids who hang of em and pull em around, none of em ever growled or snapped at anythin which was done to em!

Yet if any1 tried to attack any of my family the dog wud defend us with their lives! Dogs r extremely loyal and sensitive and very clever!

U cant say the guy was mad to have to pits as they r as likely to turn on u as any other breed. Its all down to interbreedin and how u bring them up!

There is a far greater problem with the youth of now days than of pets. and that is also down to up bringing.

On a whole the issues with uncontrollable dogs or ppl is down to upbringing and bein tought rite and wrongs!

But there sum things u cant teach out of a animal or human alike, things that r instinct!

Im more aware of kids these days turnin on u or ur pets than pets themselves but no1 says these kids need to b shot!

Dogs r almost human IMO and r more loyal than any human ul ever meet!

Oh fook me the 'dog lovers society' coach has just pulled in
Your saying its not the dogs fault but tell that to the cat
Regardless of whether or not these dogs are vicious by nature or because of bad up-bringing or training they should not be on the street where if it wasn't a cat it could of been somebodys dog, goat, hamster or more importantly child that these mutts tore into
If a person who has had a bad up-bringing goes out and murders another person do we let them off and blame the parents or put them where they can't do it again for a very long time!

That turned my stomach and made me extremely angry

I hope you called the cops. if you can't control animals then you shouldnt be allowed to have them and if the animal is uncontrollable then it shouldnt be kept as a pet. Owners also need to understand that they are responsible and need to be brought to account.

If those dogs had of got my cat I'd of killed em both
