Im not saying that the car wasnt a very high spec REYLAND metro but its still a bright orange metro!! Too be fair to u all, i understand Reyland build quality cars but it doesnt make them special enough to warrant that kind of money for a rover metro. I would much rather go buy a Motobuild Metro 4 half the money.

The only things worth mentioning on the spec list is the brake set up but is custom 4pots really necessary if it only does 126 MPH, and maybe the gearbox cuz admittedly rover boxes r shite!

126 MPH isnt a lot for the spec of that car, i had a metro GTi that touched 120 and thats only a 1400 16v MPi.

 

Like to see you race the Reyland metro round the track in your gti

You clearly know less than nothing! The car did 126mph within the confines of where it was tested and would have gone sooo much faster if I had chosen to test it on the motorway as you probably did with yours... remember the Speedo was not used to record the figures . The brakes were needed and entirely necessary.... have you tried driving a metro fast on track for lap after lap? I doubt it as standard brakes last about 3 laps of Donnington and then they are gone!
As for building cars of the same spec cheaper.... do the sums (I will lend you a calculator if needed) and you will find you can't! The car was a bargain at the money it sold for regardless of whether it was a metro or not!

Ok then, you spec me up a metro as good as that and build it, time it to see if it's as quick as the orange one - i'm sure Martin can help you with figures and i'll buy it at Ł2.5k like you said providing you can detail the costs and make a profit.

If the original post had stated that the top speed was 126MPH in a confined space then there enough but the original spec states 126MPH top speed!! I have only done 80 in my car due to not going newhere in it but i dont say that that is the top speed!!

The reason the car could be built cheaper by an independant person is cuz it would be parts only not taking into account labour fees. If you or some1 else is stupid enough to spend that much money on a BRIGHT ORANGE SHITBOX then fair enough. No doubt it is quick but so would a shoppin trolley with a big fuck off rocket on the back but it wud still b a big shit trolley!!

If you class Ł3500 a bargain for a metro then well done but think about it!!

If you had ever watched this car on a track, then you would be changing your mind just like I did. I had no idea a Metro could ever handle or be so quick.......Quick enough and handled well enough to walk all over most stage 3 Cossies with 330bhp, big brakes and a decent driver.

If........it did sell for 3.5k.... Believe me someone got one hell of a car, that's capable of absolutely plastering any hot hatch worth three times that amount.

I don't just talk from being brainwashed either. I spent five years racing a Mini Cooper S in the Modified Saloon Car Championships, and another 5 years doing the ACSMC Hill Climb and Sprint Championship, and believe me I spent a damned site more than 3.5k on my Mini, and it was nowhere near as quick as this Metro. If I'd had the Orange Metro I could have won the 2 ltr Class with no problem at all.

As for your comment about Motobuild...... I've seen there work, many times..... It's like comparing Skoda to Porsche.....

Someone got a very very special car, at a very sensible price, considering it's performance, stealth look, and fun factor.........and he's going to shock alot of High Powered Yuppie Cars and their drivers.
