its plainly obvious that a ford aint evr going to win ,


the cosworth team was down to a min anyway this year , why not just save your money , and not compete against cars you just are never going to win against , im sorry but its just fact , yes technology has evolved and the sierras just cant cut it , simple as , as an all rounder the sierra cosworth(escort incl) just isnt there, and never will be , they can be made to provide mega performance , just not in the leage of the newer versions of the performance car ,


ive not seen the results yet , but i can guess that a ford didnt win , you just cant compete against cars that are way above your class i.e the skyline , its a completely diff animal , for straight line high speed its gonna win pound for pound , yes on a tricky little handliing circuit you gonn ahave it but over three disiplines forget it its out on a leage of its own

ive no great love for jap cars , ive worked on them for more years than i care to remeber , and i love the raw cosworth power , but its day has gone im afraid ( and no i wont be selling for a scooby !! )

 

cossies went way down in my estimations today

supposed "500bhp" cossies doing consistant 110mph terminals and having turbo CRXs keep up once rolling was not good.

there are far better cossies of course, but your average RS500 spec one just cant cut it anymore IMHO.

The Rovers and CRXs generaly made the RSTs look a bit daft too, mainly on the traction/launch side of things.

id NEVER thought id say it, but the Scoobys and GTSTs impressed me

 

Was there any jap cars that where at least 15 years old.
the cosworth are now getting on for 20 years old.

If you put them up to any cars over 15 years old the cosworth would destory them.
maybe a classic totb event.

Times have moved on and theres hardly any product thats 15 years old that can compete with anything these days true or not

So you should a be proud of the cossy there classics

 

 

but so many people think they are still competetive when ther not it this sort of event , simple as , as you say they are a classic and always will be

R32GTRs started in 1990, so thats 14 years old, thats close, and a R32GTR won.

And if Keith didnt have problems on the day a 14 year old car wouldve pasted everything in sight.

I wouldnt say age is even remotley the issue with Cossies not doing well, IMO it has nothing to do with it

 

but steve , the datsuns were way ahead of the fords in their days as well , they started with a better base car , full of useful electronic and mechanical gizmos to start with , which is whats showing through now !!

exaclty, its not an age issue, its the spec.

dont forget it wasnt ONLY the GTRs that made the Cossies look a bit lame, was GTSTs, Scoobs, EVOs, Supras, everything really, its not the cars arnt good enough, jus your average RS500 spec car isnt...

 

and its alright saying yeh but ive got this and that , if you aint there it dont count simple really you lost

 

Does not matter what make/model of car as to if it it's in the same league as any other make/model of car.

It comes down to to the one large factor, that being cash. As it stands most peeps with the cash do not invest in cosworth and prefer mainly jap cars instead.

There are however a very few peeps (5/6 at a guess!) that willing to put everything into a cosworth and I think within the next year there will be some peeps who will not beleive the performance of these cars and the cosworth are past it post will be a thing of the past................

 

Dan........yes i agree...but these new generation are running Skyline transmissions...and i doubt the TOTB organisers will do a Hybrid catergory

 

....and my prediction is that there will be several 9 sec cars (perhaps one 8 secs ) and serveral over 200mph...

 

If us so called Rs fans dont beleive in the cars we put up what inscentive is their for people to build the cars for next years event.We are beaten before we try but most Scoob owbers and dare I say Skyline owners are 10 years younger and maybe dont have the commitments the older Rs has now.

But the people that moan the most nver put their cars up strange that

 

Skylines are NOT way ahead! Fastest QTR was an Evo, fastest top speed was a Supra...

 

maybe a nice competition between every day driving cars. thats a different story.

 

Maybe some people who compete in totb are just there to enjoy it and not win it.... thats a bit of a hypocrital statement i'm afraid.
