DJs....
Back when it was hip to be a DJ I followed the flock and went out and bought some decks and a mixer and became another bedroom dj.
More because of the amount of space it took up than losing interest after a few months it all ended up getting packed away.
Anyway.... Was watching the gadget show last week (purely because of suzie perry of course ) and see they were looking at DJ mixing software for mp3s. Answer to all my problems! I can relive my bedroom DJ moments without having to shoehorn a set of decks and a mixer into my already cramped room!
I've looked at a few DJ software and found the easiest to get on with was virtual DJ. However it was a pain in the arse that you need the PRO version ($250) just to be able to get headphone monitor support which is essential really and makes the lower versions pretty useless!
Anyways, I also noticed that you can use one of these with virtual DJ...
I mean come on, I was instantly sold on how cool the dj looks with the girls and even more suprised that these only fetch about £80 on ebay
So has anyone looked into DJ mixing software? Anything better out there? What is the hercules like? Did you find girls appearing in your bedroom like on the box? (and I dont mean your mum telling you to turn it down!)
I appreicate there's nothing like real decks and vinyl but thats just not an option for me, Im just looking at it as a toy for a bit of fun. (and to get the girls of course! )

I used to mess about with Traktor after selling my decks, it does support headphones if you have a full dulpex sound card.
Set the front speakers as the monitors, and the rears as the headphones

you can download a trial version of virtual dj from www.virtualdj.com but the lack of headphone monitoring makes it pretty useless imo!

The non expiring version of the trial version is fairly easy to get hold of, but we cant discuss that here.
The pro version I cant find anywhere, gotta stump up the 249 euros!

I DJ nearly every weekend for Yates and Litten Trees.
Good old trusty CD Denons for me.
My mate uses a Mix Box that he runs through his laptop.
The 1210's are then running with blank records on them for the pitch and start of the tracks, that are on the laptop.
How cool.
