Your magnifying glass once belonged to a fictional character from a book written over a hundred years ago?? crikey mate thats a bit impressive...

Seriously though, you could get a nice lime green string to attach to the glasses?...you could treat it as a joke...you know ''har har, my comedy glasses'' and hide behind that front, whilst at the same time, being able to see? ...

Katie, it's a lovely idea... I'm going to stick to being half-blind though I mix with car traders, and 4 weeks piss-taking can ensue from taking a bit long to have a piss

Plus I like magnifying glass, makes me feel like I'm solving clues

I'm glad you're pleased
Do you not feel strange looking for ''clues'' in newspapers in tv guides, though?
Not so much clues, more printed details that thousands of other people are reading simultaneously without the use of a detective aid? ...are you never jealous they can just ''go it alone''...without having to get their equipment out and prepare...what does Watson say about it all?

God I'm in a silly mood tonight...AJ's fault..hes started it

Having also been in the position where I can't seem to get a contact lense out can I advise the first thing to check is that you actually put any contacts in.

it's turning into a bit of cliff hanger ain't it
did the op get the lens out then or not?
has she auditioned for pirates of the carribean 3?
or peter pan for crimbo?

the lens don't go to the back of your eye as there is nowhere for it to go other than underneath the top of the eyelid
plenty of solution (or failing that, cold water) should do the trick about getting it back to it's normal size again

then, it's off to see docrot nick to see if they can poke it out

my mum had the same problem when she tried contact lenses and that put me off for life

I've had this a few times where its gone up and almost behind my eye. Depending on where the contact is stuck, move your eye in the opposite direction and try blinking..... If it still doesn't come out, try lifting your eye lid at the same time, this seems to work for me

What I do is.

Lift eye lids out of way using one hand, look in the opposite direction to where the contact lense has gone. Then use the other hand to try and draw the lense back down to the center. But I find they tend to rip if they are dailies.

i must have knocked it out without realising, messed my eye right up. my mum n dad took me to hospital this morning was there all day. i've managed to scratch my eye but hopefully that will heal.

my eye is that swollen up i can't see out of it, looks like ive been in a fight!!! i got loads of medication, 2 lots of eye drops, eye cream and tablets. i have to be so careful with it though.

basically im going back to my optician and asking to change the brand of contact lenses i have. i have to use my medication for 2 weeks, 4 times a day!!! i can't really do much or go anywhere so i'm stuck in bed trying to sleep.

Trying to remove a contact lense that itsn't there?

You only do it once

Don't be put off contacts though... they're fantastic when you've got a set you're happy with

Ask your optician about Focus Dailies. I was on Bausch & Lombe (spelling?) before and didn't get on at all well - so bad, in fact that I gave up and reverted to specs - but these are much, much better.

I suggested there wasn't one in.

I've done this time and time again, even right after taking my glasses off.

I even once slept in a pair, then woke up and put another pair on top... that was such a confusing day

no there was one in, and it wa stuck but i must have knocked it out after a while and not realised and just kept on messing. because you can't see if its there when you pull it down because you have to look up, you don't know if its there and also the fact it feels the same as your eye really does not help.

here's a tip for avoiding it happening next time...

look at something...

if it's blurry, you DON'T have contact lenses in

it doesnt matter if its blurry, it could have just come out of place if its blurry, earlier that day my eye went blurry, no one could see my contact in my eye, i though i had lost it, but it was there!!! just must have moved out of place.

and it really isn't funny when it happens to you.

i can vouch for that, i used them for a very short while and they were terrible. i have Focus Torics (monthly) ones and they are v.good

i once threw away a pair of contact lenses when emptying my CL pot cause i thought i was wearing them and i actually had my glasses on PMSL
